brake fluid

Treating my VTR to new discs, pads and some braided brake hoses tomorrow so changing the brake fluid when I am at it. I got some Mintex Dot4 brake fluid this evening, but when I got home and had a closer read of the jar it says not suitible for Citroens or any other car that requires a petroleum based fluid. Whats that all about?

right.. the petroleum based brake fluids are the ones used in the hydrollic suspension setups..

for your car it will be fine.

We have a similar warning on the Silkolene brake fluid we supply

A bunch of vehicles from Rolls Royce, Morris, Mercedes, Peugeot, Jaguar, Audi, BMW, JCB and most commonly Citroën used Mineral Oil. Citroën also used this oil for the brakes of many cars as did a few other manufactures such as Roll Royce. The Saxo is not one of them and used normal brake fluid so just ignore the warning.
