VTS engine

I'm not gunna add names etc here, just want peoples honest opinions.

I've been offered a VTS block for £600. all the service parts such as belt, head gasket etc inc. its a single plug and it's got 60kish on the clock and I can get some uprated cams thrown in on the price.

I've got VTR block with 77k on it, silvertop, single plug. no mods, running fine, new clutch.

I was saying mine was worth around £150 gauging prices from breakers and fleabay.

Would £400 and my engine sound like a reasonable deal for VTS?

Been offered to drive car around and make sure it works etc. Just i'm not 100% into all this so hoping for some opinions. Rep for helpful answers.

I'd say £600 for that engine was a bit over priced really, depending on the cam spec.

I suppose its all down to what your willing to pay

Cams are just included, not fitted or mapped etc.

Yeah i gathered that mate, what cams are they?
  5. #5
The cams are cat cam's 708. They are fitted aswell.

price inc cams is ok, although without loom and ecu not the best deal imo, if its all in and unlocked with the new bits id pay around that prob a bit less

can pick up vts engines alot cheaper and then a second hand set of cams if you are on a budget

think thats quite pricey if im honest especially with the milage too. best to be patient and the right engine will come along shortly

So for this one how much would you say? I just obviously don't want ripping off and I don't have the money to spend on a low mileage engine really so just doing abit research.

Breakers my way are charging £425 for a 16v lump, no loom or ecu.

I think they are getting quite rare now days tbh. Dont see as many pop up for sale as you used to.

With the cams in £600 is towards the higher end of what to expect to pay but i doubt you would get cheaper with some 708s.

Bite the bullet and do it

The price is with gearbox, loom, unlocked ecu aswell. Inlet and exhaust manifolds. Basic plug and play, no need to find anything else.

So as he says there, all plug and play. Worth 400 smackers and a VTR engine to go back in his to sell on?

I need to know so I can start saving...
