VTS Alloy Colour

  1. #1
    Hi all.

I recently took off my VTS alloys as the front two tyres were REALLY bald... so in the meantime I am back to my VTR alloys. Didn't have time to get new tyres as I had to get the car road legal for the drive up to Rock Ness

So I've decided that since they are off the car that I should get them refurbed, or do them myself... But what I can't decide on is the colour to do them

    This is my car here

What do you guys think on colour?? I'm more so drawn to anthracite, I know its been done, etc but I'm just wanting it to look good. Not into standing out

    Cheers

White tbh mate, best thing to do would be post in the Photoshop section and have each colour photoshopped onto your car so you can see what looks best.
  3. #3
    anthracite or leave them silver...
  4. #4
Black with a red lip, put standard red rear lights back on, look minted
  5. #5
Reckon gloss black to go with the stealthy look, then smoke lights and fogs.

    And get a black ariel.

    Black FTW!
  6. #6
You are in the same position as me lol... ive decided to go white now though because im gong to re-colour code everything

but i think you should go black or anthracite
  7. #7
I'm definitely more drawn to Anthracite or Black Though I still do like the other two.

If anyone has any pictures of black saxo on these colours of VTS rims then that would be excelent.

    Keep the input coming
  8. #8
Gloss black as said go for the stealthy look, poss red/silver lip to highlight the edge of the rim!!
  9. #9
I just think this is stunning!

The red lights and calipers just go sooo well!
  10. #10
    i really like that ^
  11. #11
would you think that red pinstripe on black vts wheels will go with a silver mk1 anyone?
  12. #12
I do like the look of the red pinstripe but its not to my taste... I'd rather keep the car looking 'clean'. If that makes any sense
  13. #13

Haha, I was actually thinking that the day. Av no plans for the nite mate if your wanting to meet me for it?

I'm kinda thinking anthracite aswell... as my chevrons at the front are, also I have carbon door trims and I was going to do my mirror caps aswell. So it would keep it all tied in without me having to change anything.
  16. #16
aw well with all that stuff aswell defo anthracite for me.

yeah mate i'll get the tardis off ya tonight if its kool, where about will i meet ya?
  17. #17

  23. #23

The VTS wheels should be done within a month So long as I can sort the money out. But the VTR wheels is jus what I would IDEALLY like to do. So wether or not I ever get round to it is another question.
  26. #26
    this colour ftw

(pics taken from mattwesty's progress thread )
  27. #27
I voted white because thats what i have. However that colour above is absolutely stunning. That is mint
  28. #28
I think the standard colour suits yours tbh.
  29. #29
Black for the stealth look or white purely for looks, I'm sticking with what I originally said and that's white
  30. #30
white on a black sax imo
  31. #31
Has to be standard silver or white for me....

To be honest I think those wheels look stunning

Do you know what the actual colour is?
  33. #33
Looks like Pegeuot Cossack Grey, but not 100% sure of that.

PM Mattwesty, thats his car lol

That woud be a good idea lol

EDIT: Just had a look through his progress thread... The colour seems to be secret! He hasnt told anyone, but it seems to be that Pug Graphite Grey is the closest match

I said white as I like them the best in that colour but at the same time.... everyone has VTS wheels. Personally i'd say some crazy colour to make them stand out.

Thats the thing mate, I'm not into making it stand out... draws more attention from the coppers

Also, keeping it subtle means it will look a lot cleaner and smoother

Hmm, I see what you mean but also surely attention from the coppers is no problem if your cars legal right?
It's down to you at the end of the day but say black with a lime green pinstripe isn't exactly in your face but could transform the look of a car.
  38. #38
I'm looking to get some when I find some cash

Torn between White, Gloss black or Anthracite though.

Originally thought White on White would look immense but now I'm swaying towards Anthracite

    Opinions?!

Everythings legal other than the pressed plates

I see what you mean, but in order to do a different colour I'd have to then match some other parts with it, like chevrons, etc. And for once I'm actually reasonably happy with the way the cars looking at the moment.
  40. #40
    white ftw.
  41. #41
Right, the decision has been made

Anthracite it is... Going to go for Pug Graphite Grey.

I've been quoted £120 to get them all done... What do you all reckon on that price?

The other option is to do it myself. I have a spare VTS alloy that is buckled and of no use, so I was thinking since I won't be able to get them sprayed till the start of July. That I might aswell have a go at sanding back the spare alloy and if all seems to go well, I could save myself like £70 and just do them all myself.

    Opinions please?
  42. #42
    perfect plan tbh
  43. #43
I was thinking it covers all angles.. As I don't get payed till July so I've got a few weeks to get cracking with my spare alloy. And as its a spare its perfect to practice on.

So if I start that, I'll know if I think I'll be able to get a good finish on my proper alloys

How much do you reckon I'd be loooking at to get all the gear to sand them back, fill them, prime, spray and lacquer??
  44. #44
according to furioAl's thread around £50

    http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87427
  45. #45
I reckon I could pretty easily do them myself. The only thing is that one wheel has bad curbing on the lip, for about half of the wheel (just managed to get out the way of some idiot in the snow but couldnt stop without using the bumper car technique!).

I was wondering if it will be straight forward to rebuild the lip just using filler?
  46. #46
Picked up all the materials last night to get them sanded back, filled and primed

I'm going to go down and get the tyres taken off them today so there easier to work with. I'll post pics up of my progress in the 'your photo's' section.
