Changing Saxo SX Wheel Arches

  1. #1
Hey guys, new to this forum. I was wondering how easy/possible it is to change the standard wheel arches on a 1996 P Reg Saxo SX? Not had it long and already hate the plain wheel arches, want something more modern! I was hoping
(if possible) to replace them with those of the saxo VTR (nice round ones!).

Is it a case of changing the whole panel and buying new ones? If so will they fit from a VTR to an SX? I have heard you can buy fibre glass mouldings and glue them on?

    Current wheel arches:

Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance!

so should i buy new panels or are there glue-on fibreglass extensions? do you recommend me attempting DIY or just get a quote from a garage? I have seen some sort of panels on ebay (VTR models) like this:

but confused as to how it works

i think its gonna be alot more work than just stickin them on wit some stika flex, if the first pic is the car you want to fit the vt* arches to then youll have to put alot of work into it as you have a 5 door! it is possible have seen it done on other cars, gonna be a fair bit of work i would say though, i wouldnt want to attempt it and i got level 2 in body repair

The pics above are just examples, mine is the same blue but a 3 door hatchback. A friend told me that you can buy new panels from a VTR and by opening the bonnet, you can undo the bolts running along the side of the wing and just take off the panel yourself and fit the new one (and maybe t-cut/polish the new panel if its brighter than the car colour slightly). However, as for the back two arches im unsure how to go about doing these; they don't have 'panels' as such, maybe you have to remove the black trim that goes around the side of the car near the rear wheel arches and fit a new trim? I'm unsure, but no doubt a garage would charge a stupid amount to do this and finding the panels might be a pain in the ass.
