I have a Citroen Saxo 1997 model and the handbrake seems to have turned itself on without me pulling the actual handbrake up.
It was an occasional problem for a few weeks and when I went to the garage and they told me it's best not to use the handbrake and just leave the car in gear when I park. So, I did this and went to get in the car one morning and it had decided to put the handbrake on. The physical handbrake was not on but felt tight when I wiggled it up and down.
The garage have now said I need new brake pads and that something else might need doing which will cost me about £200 inc labour.
Does anyone have any idea if i'm being diddled? A few people I've spoken to seem to think it's just the cable that needs sorting out underneath and is a 10 minute job - any advice?
