Advantages Of De-Cat ??

    above basically
what are the advantages of decat and does it add any extra bhp??
    cheers

If its a mk2 to decat it you will have to fit a performance manifold so you will have the benefits of a manifold and decat so should add about 5-8 bhp but dont expect stupid amounts of bhp just feels more responsive. made my car sounds alot louder and nicer tone.

and you might get the occasional popping from your exhaust which I fink sounds nice.
If it is a mk2 you can fit a mk1 cat under the car wen mot time comes as it fits straight on and is easier than changing manifolds.

I have a mk2 vtr with cat back exhaust could i get a new manifold and then fit a mk1 cat?

    Yes you could

basically ally ou would have to do is get a new manifold, Supersprint etc, which would then decat your car, i would also get a supersrpint full centre pipe but that is optional!

then come MOT time you could either just refit you old manifold with the cat in, or get a mk1 cat and centre pipe which just sits undr the car

    Hope this helps

my vtr has a 4-1 manifold and mk1 magnex on it pops loads at first i thought there was something wrong but i like the way it pops sounds mint mot time i can put a mk1 cat in it jobs a gudden

so will i have to change my exhaust? as its aftermarket i'd also like to keep the cat on permanantly.

its an advantage if you like burning more fuel
tbh imo i seen no performance incrase just sound and fuel went flying down.

There is some dyno runs on 106rallye proving it does increase BHP a bit.

But sure there is a thread on here saying you need at least one box in the system regarding back pressure etc etc think its a sticky its a good read

    I have a mk2 VTS
i had the option of a straight through exhaust with no cat but opted for a Cat-back system, them i removed the cat a few weeks later and added the extra pipe to D-cat it, so now at MOT time all i have to do is remove that section of pipe (2ft) and put the cat back in, problem solved

Pretty sure KamRacing will do one:

Might even have a club discount for one too, I haven't looked though.
