hello, not sure on weather or not to stip my saxo rear seats and boot out etc to do weight reduction? would anyone reccomend this can you notic a difference?
Stripped Or Not Stripped

#2imo when its stripped out the car doesnt feel as 'homely' and warm anymore
-
#4As above
Plus
You will have to have your music blasting due to all the noise, especially on the motorway -
#5lol what can you hear all the rattles from the car with no carpet or insulation in?
-
#6i would never strip out a car that is used daily. the road noise gets very loud and it just doesnt feel comfortable.
-
#7Try it,
if you dont like it, put it back in.
Its seriously half hours work. -
#8I have my saxo stipped and i wouldnt say the road noise is that bad!
I meen dont get me wrong, yea you can hear the tyrs on the road more, and with my spare wheel cage not there, you can hear the eaxaust ALOT more, but as soon as i striped my car (fully) and took it for a spin, a HUGE grin came accros my face that i could not get rid of!!
Give it a shot, if you dont like it puit it back in, like already said takes 30mins, 1hour MAX
EDIT - for those who say it doesnt really do that much for performance.. well.... there is a VERY steep hill on the way to my mums, (like first gear in most cars!) i usually go up it in 2nd gear, used to crawl up in second at about 2k revs, now the car pulls and keeps going in 2nd untill i change into 3rd at the top.
Perforamce gains?? i think so
-
#9...did your seats weigh a tonne?Quote:

#10I would say no imo. Feels alot less comfortable when stripped.
-
#11id only strip it if you have buckets
-
#13agreed.
nothing looks more stupid than a half stripped car with standard front seats.
if your going to do it, do it properly.
tbh when i stripped my saxo a while back i did notice quite a big difference. it did have a sound system in before which was more weight removed. -
#14Oooooooooooo, 50:50
I said yes because I have buckets and harnesses. If you have snobby girls in the car though and your not too fussed i'd recommend not. Everything that could creak...will.
I love mine stripped though, means you don't have to give lifts either which is a plus point in my books. -
#15this is how i feel lolQuote:Oooooooooooo, 50:50

#16From what i have heard its not worth the hassle unless you will be on track a fair bit.
as the back end feels very light and not right as i am aware... please correct me if im wrong though.
i voted no
however there are some lush cars that are striped..
as said though strip it you self for a week and see how it feels i cannot see stripping the interior taking more then an hour tbh so go for it and report back
-
#17I Stripped my back seats out and notice a slight difference but i like it stripped but i am putting it all back in as i dotn have bucket seats yet

i only stripped it to move some stuff around by the way.
I approve!!! -
#18strip it
-
#19Stripping road going cars is the most pointless thing ever imo.
If it's a track car then yes. -
#20strip, you will definately feel the increase in acceleration if you strip it fully e.g no roof lining, no floor carpet, no soundening etc. i have a fully stripped saxo and the noise is barely noticeable. just hear your exhaust more. get more miles to your petrol with a lighter car aswell
-
#21hmm, on a road car seems silly, plus you dont want to upset the weight distribution too much.
-
#22alot of people saying about the back feeling twitchy and weight distribution but i find it handles better with it being stripped find i can corner alot harder and faster than before
-
#23totally agree with you mate....Quote:alot of people saying about the back feeling twitchy and weight distribution but i find it handles better with it being stripped find i can corner alot harder and faster than before
each to their own at the end of the day... but i stripped mine and really dont wanna put the seats etc back in... was very noticeable...
the only major noise difference i get is that i can hear the fuel pump when at traffic lights etc... i like that tbh im a young lad im into that..
richo id say just strip the seats out takes 5 min... along with the carpet run it for a couple of days and if your happ take out the sound deadening and everything else.. -
#24strip
-
#25Like a more refined interior personally (must be getting old) plus in a saxo you dont need the benefits of extra road noise / rattling.

If your gonna be a track day whore - strip it
-
#26I wouldn't say twitchy, obviously if you have like, full lock on round a roundabout flooring it then slap the brakes on the back will come out abit dodgey but it's defo not "twitchy".
I've had mine stripped since a week after I got it and to be fair, i'll never go back..
Has anyone noticed that with a stripped interior the car is an amplifier. I've done it afew times now like...
"god look at her, she's the ugliest and fattest i've seen tonight!"
Then they look round and you realise they can hear everything...
Do it, be a man....BE A MAN! -
#27if your guna do something, do it properly.....
no half assed atempted. -
#28im in the exact same position as you mate, really cant decide weather to do it or not!!!
and it doesnt help with the amount of mixd opinions that every1 is giving!! i think im gonna get buckets, then strip it and see what i think, as long as it definatly is only about an hours long job!! lol -
#29depends how much you strip as to how long it takes! i have even taken all the tar on the rear archers out taken rear seat mechanism out, sound proofing, fire blanket shit from up front and centre console
-
#30For Sure... I've done my VTR/VTS conversion.. plus fitted Cobra Monaco's and harnesses..Quote:t as soon as i striped my car (fully) and took it for a spin, a HUGE grin came accros my face that i could not get rid of!!
Now gone to taking out anything thats too heavy...
Doorcards are next to sort out.. -
#31i strip mine for track days and would couldnt keep it stripped for every day use, as much as i enjoy it!
by way of handling you only notice the rear end under braking, which then can be helped by keeping your spare wheel in and having a weight over the rear axle, which i suppose defeats the point of stripping but hey! -
#32I used the Saxo maybe once or twice a fortnight.. so stripped is ok for me..
-
#33If you don't need the rear seats, why not!!!
-
#34Strippage all the way.
-
#35Strip it!
-
#36just strip it mate, u dont have a say in the matter the public have voted.
-
#37I stripped out my saxo when it was on the road and I absalutely loved it. Especially when going out gravel as it sounded like a rally car lol. I say do it, see how you get on and if you don't like it stick it all back in. Piece of piss tbh
-
#38every day cars stripped look gay
-
#39If your using it Regularly, keep it non-stripped in my opinion.
-
#40Sorry but keep it non stripped, unless your planning it as a track car.
Steve. -
#42Yep I know I thought I`d got away with it by editing it LOL but you caught me out

Steve hangs head. -
#43well down to the poll results
-
#44after going to FCS i realised i realy did want to strip it out:

only thing now it sits like a tractor at the back so its at the Repairgeot in ripley at the moment having the rear adjusted -
#45I'd say, no, don't strip it.. Unless you get some bucket seats..
-
#46feel any difference in performance matey?
-
#47hahah to the people who say every day cars shouldnt be stipped.what if there every day cars that go on the track?
mine is stripped as i dont have mates and it is going on track,i also use it at mo for every day.tbh i havent noticed an increase in any kinda noise or anything.
imho it makes a massive difference though, power to weight ratio remember. -
#48Stripped - if your going for the track look
-
#49it makes a massive amount off difference on acceleration, lol and if you read ma pm im after bucket seats id go get some this minute if someone would sell me some lol
-
#50That aint stripped, thats just back seats taken out... you need to atleast take the carpet out, door cards, all plastic trim for it to be stripped.. just taking the seats out wont make much difference..
-
#51taking seats out is about the biggest single heaviest thing apart from spare wheel/cage.Quote:That aint stripped, thats just back seats taken out... you need to atleast take the carpet out, door cards, all plastic trim for it to be stripped.. just taking the seats out wont make much difference..
mine is fully stripped though,carpet,roof lining,sound deadning,even glovebox/door,dash,door cards.
i have to decide wether to keep it road worthy or not yet,if i decide to take it off road then heater unit will come out aswell.
carbon roof skin, bonnet and boot will be going on too.
all the SRS is out aswell.
the clio i had before was proper stripped, only had one seat handbrake, and dials, just the dials/clocks.
that was it.
no dash, could see all the wiring looms,no heater nothing.
some pics on cliosport.net i think.
il try dig some up. -
#52I would say strip it if you can live with no-rear seats and more noise, rattles ect.Just keep everything you take out so if you change your mind in a month then you can just put it all back in.
-
#53it makes alot of difference to befor as i had a heavy install aswell and i already lost spare
-
#54i have mine in the way to being striped but road noise 4 me i am dynomating the floor and making a fake floor to make it look nice tbh check out my pics
http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=155938
got 2 buckets and half cage all painted nd up tell me wat ya,s think of the motor
love the whole no bac seats no more driving mates about awesome -
#55Did you see mine at the show before the track sesh dude?
Stripped all the way
-
#56strip it imo
-
#57It depends on what you like really. My Clio was stripped and road noise did my head in abit, so i carpeted all the back out n made a shelf to sit in the rear footwells for my 6x9's. Then it wasnt too bad. Dont really fancy it in the Saxo though as it's just a pain in the arse sometimes when u could do wi having more than one passenger
