smooth dash??

  1. #1
hi guys, in the process of smoothing my dash and doorcards, thought i'd done a good job, however, when they were sprayed they still have the crinkle effect that comes when standard. im obviously going to need to rub it down some more,

anyone smoothed a dash before, any advice??

preparation is the key mate... not done it myself but lots of sanding and washing it down using white spirit to get rid of the chemicals that you may have sprayed on them so when it comes to painting it will be smooth!

    Use petrol or white spirit
    Sand sand sand
    Sand some more
    prime
    sand
    prime more and more
Then paint with as many coats

yeah i was thinking this also, but think i'll have a go myself, going to pick them up from the body-shop tonight so i'll get some white spirit and some wet and dry on the way home and get sanding,

That looks good, did you just sand it down, primer it up then spray it?

use filler primer then sand it then filler primer then scotch n it should b smooth as a bbys back side

try and smooth as much as possible so you dont need lots of filler as it cracks under the heat.

no need for any filler tbh. Just use high build primer. Put a few coats on, then rub it right back with wet and dry paper. Then a few more coats of primer and rub back again ....

Keep on repeating until it is smooth and then spray.
