First of all lock the block to make sure it's at tdc. same with the head (althoguh since thats coming off not reallly needed but will help to make sure the block is done right.

disconnect all sensors and the throttle cable and fuel lines to the rail.
    slacken timing belt and remove

Take off the exhaust manifold, the inlet manifold can stay on.
Remove the head bolts, think you need to take head bolts off in a specific order, but not sure. Once the head bolts are off the rocker arms should come off.

Then remove the head. Undo all the bolts on the side that is oppersite to the pulley where the thermo stat side is, they just come off, be careful as on the other protruding part other than the thermo stat it has some dowels to help hold it. To be fair you probably don't need to remove the thermo stat, i did to rebuild it totally.

Remove the cam pulley, be careful as it's on tough and you need to make sure the cam pulley doesn't rotate when trying to remove. I wedged a screw driver through it and against the head with a cloth to not damage the head.
Then on the oppersite side of the pulley there is a torq bolt, t40 iirc that needs to be removed so holds on a part that holds the cam. Once that is removed and the cam pulley, remove the oil seal on the cam pulley side, it's about 2 inch diameter roughly.

Once you have done all that you should be able to remove the cam.

I don't think you need to remove the valves but again I did as it's a rebuild. But if you need to get some valve spring compressors, compress the spring so you can remove the collets, they come in 2 parts. Once they are out, the valve spring and valve can be removed. Then use some pliers to remove the valve stem oil seals, be gentle though, i mashed a few by being a bit rough! And note there is a washer with the spring to stop it contacting with the head.
