Rattle cans.......

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

Well ive search but have not found this coverd before

Im going to be refurbing a rocker cover soon and spraying it with rattle cans.

The car is black but im hoping to maybe do some custom colouring under the bonnet (not sure what colour yet, any sugestions....?)

now when i come to spraying to rocker cover, ill obviously prep it, then wil come the metal primer then the colour then laquer.

Like i said im going for a "custom" type look, so im wanting something with a glitter in it or a metal flake/rainbow glitter

Now i no when you get a proper spray job they mix it with the laquer.

Is there anywhere you can get Clear Laquer in a rattle can with gliter pigments in it?? preferably rainbow glitter....

Would also be considering spraying my centre console and heater covers with the same effect.

Ive never heard of this before but maybe someone on here has!

Rep for someone who can maybe find me somthing

nope, you need to add the flakes to the laquer so gun and compressor needed.

well, you could attempt this, i have done it before but didnt look as good but this is the best you can do with aerosol. when you apply your base coat let it dry till it turns a matt colour then sprinkle glitter over the base coat. then apply your laquor ove the top. hope this helps

i wouldnt worry about anything fancy tbh, just do it a simple colour.

do it white, get some hammerite paint in a tin or a can and paint it or spray it on.

    then lacquer it!

you dont have to use heat resistant paint on non vts models.
you could try stripes like my bro
or just a simple colour like anthracite like i did

Cheers for your info guys, gutted you cant get glitter laquer in a can lol!

Would of just been a little different i guess!!! could enquire on a price else where i suppose.....

As for doing the interior pieces white, i have a dirty job and could see white gettin VERY mucky VERY quickly lol

I was thinking of maybe doing them silver tbh.... just thought some rainbow glitter in the silver would look good.....

TBH i REALLY like the idea of some bright luminous colours under the bonnet, maybe a very bright luminous green rocker cover, ecu cover, battery cover, strut brace washer hoses, induction hose etc etc

What you guys think? i just want to be different tbh, instead of "do it white cos i no people with it white and it looks good"

Why have white when everyone else does....

EDIT - As for using heat resistant paint, do i or dont i?? had some mixed answers on this... im presuming i will HAVE to use it if i was to spray my heat sheild which will get thrown at somepoint inplace of a shiney 4 branch, but for now id have to use heat resistant paint on that yea???

I would recommend heat resistant paint for anywhere in the engine bay.
