Could this work....

Hey guys, well my new sax's rocker cover is in a terrible state (will be ashamed to post pics eventually!)

So im thinking of refurbing it myself, not going to say what colour yet as im trying to keep things under wraps at the moment, but im wanting some form of glitter effect in it.

If i was to do it myself, if when i applied the FINAL layer of colour i sprinkled some rainbow type glitter VERY lightly over the paint and let it dry and then laquerd a few times and put some more glitter under the final coat of laquer would this work??

Or would it just go terribly wrong and look gash??

I meen would i be better of lettin a body shop do it properly??

And if i was to let a bodyshop do it any rough idea on cost??

    Cheers fellas

  3. #3
Well i havent actually heard of anyone else on here wanting it yet.....

Just thought i would try somthing different tbh!

Think i will try it when i have my time off work, any idea how long it takes? as i dont want the car off the road for to long really....

Could just be easyier to buy a new cover than i can do it in stages when i ave time lol

it took me just an hour, dry each stage with a hair dryer lol half the time than air drying it m8

I think i might just buy a new one, atleast then if i do it wrong i can sand it back down and start agen and not have to worry about using my car etc etc think they are only 30ish quid rnt they????

good point, get ya self to a scrappy, anli a tenner! divint buy a new one m8 lol
  7. #7
Nah i myt get a new one, they aint that expensive, plus then it saves having to clean it up etc etc
  8. #8
i recon the way you said would work! someone i kno had his car sprayed and he got some pound shop glitter lol and the body shop mixed it with the laqure!
but wether the glitter could stand the heat is what im thinking!

if the glitter is under the laqour it will be fine, go for it m8 just take your time
  10. #10
Well if im using heat resistant paint etc and then it is the laquer on top, it is between to surfaaces really... so would need to go thru them surfaces first!

Altho you have me worried now, its not going to catch fire is it!!!!!!!!!

someone i know had it done on his astra when he bought it look gash imo dude if ur gonna do it get it done proper!
  12. #12
Well ill get some quotes on how much it would be to get done proffesionaly, as i no some cheap spray places, if its a ridiculous price ill give it a shot myself, if i fail, ill never mention it lol
  13. #13
na i cant see it catching fire! unless you use a few tubs of gltter lol, and now i think about it i think the glitter woud be ok! and think about it, the worse case is that you would have to do it again! so id go for it!
