Just picked up my new black furio pretty standard at the moment, looking to lower it but not sure how much. Got alot of spped bumps near where i live and dont want to risk scrapping the bottom of my car, but i want the 50mm look, what do you lot think.....
40mm or 50mm?????
-
#1
-
#2Go 40 mate, looks good trust
-
#3will it make a noticable differenec though??? and what kind of springs should i go for
-
#440mm is very noticeable mate and the best for handling
-
#5Yeah as said 40mm is noticable. My car used to be really high, lowered it 40mm and it looks so much better than before.
Plus 40mm you wont scrape on speedbumps.
-
#6agree.. mines lowerd 40 at front.. need to do the back though
lol
im not a fan when saxos are lowerd like 60mm.. looks too much imo -
#750mm all round looks best imo
40mm is also good and as mentioned above is good for handling. Anything over 50mm (on standard 14's) isn't to my taste
-
#8Yer i think ill go 40 then, keep the back the same or lower that 50 or 60??
-
#9id go 40mm all round...thats what i plan on doing

40 front, torsion bar adjusted 40mm at the rear
-
#10Best to keep it the same all round tbh mate.
-
#11Some people are saying to me that gmx springs are the best to go for and others are saying spax???
-
#12id rather got spax for 40mm, but tbh id go for eibach sportlines -45 springs ! looks quality and handles well, and doesnt scrape, i had my saxo lowered 50 front 60 back and never scraped anything, just once or twice on a country track, lol. Although i did have to crawl over the big big speed humps.
-
#13Never experienced gmx springs, but ive currently got the 40mm spax springs, cant fault them tbh, seem fine to me.
-
#14he meant gmc !
-
#15Ohhh was gona say, never heard of them before!
-
#16Or gmax
-
#17Don't rule out eibach or h&r either, depends if you want to do it for show or go really?
I wouldn't go beyond 40 for practicality or wear and tear issues, pas pipe, suspension geometary, driveshaft etc -
#18I've recently lowered mine 55mm on a Gmax Kit, however it looks more like 40/45mm... and honestly so glad it is, can still get it in the drive, over speed bumps etc
best mod ever can totally change the look of a car.
(btw got another VTR/S 55mm Gmax kit for sale atm
)
-
#19cheers lads
-
#20do i really need shocks or will they be alright on there own?
-
#21Springs on there own will be alright if you dont go over 40mm imo. Ideally if your budget can allow for shocks, get them. But some people have just used springs for ages and been fine.
-
#22big or small fcuk them all.
50mm mate, im lowered that much, and havent looked back. -
#24what with new shocks or not??
-
#25hope these pics will help you out mate!
before lowered >>>

40mm lowering >>>

and these are 50mm lowering mate (tbh i love the look now! plus it dont scrape that much more than it did already - mainly catches on the manifold or the decat)

hope this makes ya mind up mate. -
#26that looks sweet
did you have new shocks and what springs you got
-
#27no mate standard shocks - prob should get some but my car seems ok. Eibach 50mm springs mate. the ride is pretty stiff tho
-
#28thanks mate, lovin the car aswell
-
#2960 Front - 80 Rear FTW
-
#30I only got vtr 14" alloys so dont want to go to low other wise it will just look bad
-
#31my old westie was down 60 all round on vtr rims and imo sits perfect
-
#32new shocks???
-
#33mines on gmax. not had a problem with them
-
#3440mm i would go for, ours is 50mm all round i find its too hard with the way the roads are, etc etc!!!!!
-
#35I got a lip to get over to get into my drive aswell lol, if 40mm handle better and looks nice then im just going to go for that, shocks are lil less important aswell if its only 40mm
-
#36i dint feel a difference in the handling on the 10mm i lowered it by
-
#37What's your budget allowance to spend Furio_Steve? On standard shocks is ok 40mm but it also depends on the quality of your standard shocks. 50mm all round = lush.
-
#38Lower than 25mm and you will want new uprated shocks to be sensible.
The eibach 50mm springs must be very soft if they dont unseat on standard shocks when jacked up. -
#39-95mm + -65mm - looks amazing but you need a new spine every couple of weeks, and a new centre section every year or 2
-
#40My old saxo down 45 mm on 15"
-
#41either 35mm or 40mm for both looks and handling.
