Rear Drum to Disc

hi, just wanted to know how easy it is and how expensive to change to disc on rear? can i go to breakers? or because its a mod maybe not? is it possible to do yourself? and if not how much £££?

    its pretty straight forward mate

get your hands on a disc rear beam
and then get the car in the air

disconnect the rear brakes (lines and handbrake)
then undo the 4 beam bolts located under the back seat and in the floor under the long gromit
then bolt the new 1 on and connect up and bleed the brakes

I want to go back the other way.. but on my VTR/VTS.. I dont want a hydraulic handbrake.. I want a cable one back.. so much better to handbrake cornering..

    VTR/S run a cable handbrake

unless you've spent out on a hydraulic

Really? Oh.. I thought my handbrake ran cable to brake caliper, thus using the hydraulic brake caliper to lock the back wheel..

Different to drum brakes, and different to say an Impreza, which has a whole separate brake for the handbrake.

if you get a buggered one from a scrappy we can refurbish one for you pal so it will be like new!

ride will be much better for it aswell!

its still classed as a cable though

a hydrauilic has a proper hydrauilc cylender on the lever

you can allways adapt something like a scoobys standalone caliper system if you want

im thinking of something similar from a bicycle disc brake caliper but wont be of use for handbrake turning
its purely for holding the car still on a slope lol

    should work in theory

Wouldn't advise it mate, it may be fun pulling handbrake turns etc but eventually you'll bugger your car or get bored.

Plus, do you not think Citroen put disc brakes on there for a reason?
