I have done it on my westy.

    Results - well . . . had 120bhp and a 1.6 16v engine . . . .

Costs - I paid around £500 all in for mine, bought the engine, replaced a load of things, cambelt, waterpump, idler, tensioner, crankshaft seals, plugs, oil, oil filter . . . . . then fitted it myself + then insurance was ontop of that

Wouldnt it be cheaper to buy a vts?

it was cheaper for me to convert my 1.4 to a 16v, than for me to spend the time selling mine, and buying a vts of similar mileage/spec - i know the history of my car, have serviced it regularly etc.

At the end of the day it's upto you. . . .
