head work

rite, ive just bought a 2003 cylinder head for my 2000 vtr (both silver top) i think it fits?? at the mo, ive got a 4-1 and straight through exaust + k&n, any way im gettin a piper 285 and stronger springs n that, but what can i do to improve the gas flow through the head? does polishing work? do i shorten exhaust valve guides where they stick out into exaust port? where can i get this done around north-west? and what else can i do while ive got something to play with? cheers

polishing works but its a very skilled art. Like inlet ports should not be smooth, they need some sort of rough surface as it helps with air flow by creating turbulance

as for the head fitting, it should but im not sure if the inlet manifolds changed on the three plug ecu's, is yours a three plug? if so then i dont imagine any probs?

nt sure about the inlet manifolds, i got some with the new head but dnt no wot plug is on till i av a look. a bit ago i ad a single cylinder 5 valve 4 stroke crosser engine tuned by steve clitheroe (Honda UK bike tuner) he cut the valve guide back so it didnt interupt the exhaust flow through the port, could this work on mine?
