106 gti driveshafts

   a mate has got a 106 gti (r reg i think, not sure) and it needs new driveshafts. are they the same as the ones from a vts?

   I would say they were same as mk1 vts as the mk2 vts has a tapered driveshaft and as far as im aware the mk1 doesnt.
