I was quoted £350 for both sides dehandling and repainting. Then a kit to pop the doors is needed. Seen these for about £120.

Thats a good price cos theres a fair bit of work involved, the bit on the rear quarter needs welding and reshaping to lose that cutout where your hand goes.

sooner them than me, I hate P40 filler....

no aint got mine done, maybe a bit more expensive than £200 depends on the bodyshop. de-locking can cost upto £200 aswell.

Isn't it illegal and won't pass mot?

I thought there reason is that if you crashed or something no one can open the doors from the outside

weven if you have the door release button under the mirrors, therefore you can stil get into it from the outside?

Not to sure on that one. As obviously the TVR's coem out of the factory with it . So that should theoretically be ok.

Its just the ones which have the door popper on the alarm fob that aren't MOT passable.

Good point mate, but if Mr. or Mrs. Public runs towards your car in an accident, they wont have a clue. Worse case scenario is if you're killed, who's there to tell them that it's simply a case of pressing a small button? Also, what if the car looses power in the accident? No power for the solenoid........the list goes on.......

it wont fail an MOT if you de-handle it and de-lock it..as long as you put a release button under the mirror for example then it wont fail..i work in a garage and we have had this problem before so we contacted the ministry ppl for MOT's..so it is legal but just depends if ya wana get it done or not mate.. there thats my serious input phase gone..back to hyper Jay lol

i have had mine de-handled and it cost me £400 to have it all welded and painted etc etc and £100 for the door popping thing

i love it though

yep, de-handling is not illegal, nor is it an mot fail, as long as there is a means of opening the door from the outside, even if it is by a hidden button.

i dont paint but i charge £60 to de lock and i would say £150 to de handle, ive done it to my saxo, im a panel beater and ive done the works to my saxo, smoothed roof, mirrors,one off steel arches so if anyone wants to know how to do it i can tell you or if you bring your sax down i can de lock it in 3-4 hours.

sorry to thread hijack yatesy, sassaxo are you able to sort a no plate recess out as i want one on my standard vtr bumper as the boot has been smoothed.

yes i can do that sort of stuff,is the recess fibre glass or plastic, and have you offered it up to your bumper to make sure it fits!

it might but is it the same shape?? i cannot spray it and i would do it for around £50 but you would have to supply the stuff, eg bonding sealer, filler + paper.
