people will fall out with me for this

  1. #1
but im thinking about bonnet vents
    it will be functional
and is quite important for the set up im thinking

so i need some advise on 1 that wont look like shit on the car
    any ideas??

a few pics so you can imagine (yes its a mess atm lol)

  2. #2
hmmm i think you could get those more subtle ones like on a escort cossie il get a pic they wouldnt stand out mega loads, well not as much as a roof scoop or impreza intake thing two mins il get a pic for you
  3. #3

i wouldnt say they are mega noticeable
this guys got the idea lol:

    pmsl!!
  4. #4
lmao - cant beelieve that car!
  5. #5
    i need it fairly wide

    and central(ish) at the back
  6. #6
KIA Sedona vent smoothed into the bonnet?
  7. #7

going for the throttle bodied approach? have morettes and use two inatkes and take them to the throttle body area looks mint, thats what im doing , i shouldnt have told you -
  9. #9
^^^^^now thats a damn cool idea tbh!
  10. #10
hole in bonnet with ninja trumpets underneath

    would be killer!
  11. #11

  12. #12
    top ones are too small

bottom one looks like shite (no offence)
  13. #13
    i wanna see pictures lol
  14. #14
i like the ones simo has on his car, ive often thought bout getting a few louvres at the top middle of bonnet
  15. #15
    not seen simos close up
  16. #16
would of thought impreza scoop would be best for cramming air into bodies tbh - large intake area an all that...

Not exactly subtle though or the best looking on a saxo imo. depends if you want looks as well as functionality?
  17. #17
ideally not as big as a scooby vent
especially as im trying to kep it looking mostly stock

but it may come down to function over form
  18. #18
custom? could always chop the bonnet and roll it upwards (if you get what I mean). Can have it as large or small as you want then.

Louvres are good for letting heat out - dont know how much air they let in though
  19. #19
or Renault 19 scoop or the vent out of a clio 16v bonnet (without the bulge)
  20. #20
    some good suggestions there
liking the clio idea get the whole bulge of the 16v on the saxo bonnet could look ok

  21. #21
clio idea is probably the most subtle and looks ok go for it alex!!
  22. #22
    Try http://www.coollouvres.com/main-page.htm
  23. #23
quick louvers pull the air out the engine bay so are the opposite of what I want

think I'll look into the Clio idea
its the best so far lol
  24. #24
Run a 206 bonnet vent.. have seen it done, there was a guy on eBay selling one already cut into a Saxo bonnet. I thought it looked smart and most importantly it looked stock.

For the best effect you need to let the hot air out as well as scoop in the cool air!
  26. #26
You could go for louvres at the rear of the bonnet, then go for some old skool Astra side vents like off the old GSI's had!!

    http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/mods/astra_gsi_vents/s1.jpg

Or go for something like this:

    http://vauxspeed.ch/mediac/400_0/media/DSC00880.JPG
  27. #27
206 vents physically arent big enough

gotta feed throttle bodies with this not a little intake for the heater lol
  28. #28
that nova does look smart (can't believe I just put that)

but im putting it directly above the trumpets so it wouldn't be central
would sit basically above were the standard 16v inlet manifold is
  29. #29
You'd get so much more cold air going in through a direct feed from a 'Morette' hole or similar feed from the front, with the angle of the vent on the bonnet the majority of the air is more likely to just brush across the top of the bonnet rather than go through the vent.

For a proper bonnet section to physically force the air in it needs something like the scoop on a scooby (I know this isnt what you're wanting looks wise etc) as this directs the air downwards into the desired area of the engine bay.

Are you going to be putting any kind of filter on the throttle bodies if you're not using an enclosed box?

Should definately look at getting hot air out of the bay quickly too, bonnet raisers (Rushy stylee) are a cheap and effective option with hot air rising these do offer a good solution.
  30. #30
I know willsy this is why I'm making the tread to find a vent/scoop that will work and doesn't look shit

    I'll have a filter yes
  31. #31
hole cutter and alex this could be bad aha no bonnet ftw
  32. #32
lmao itching to get his hands on the angle grinder again i bet
  33. #33
Another benefit with the bonnet raisers would be that itll increase the angle of the bonnet and let more air in through a vent
  34. #34
    haha it'll be fine lee

Im quite tidy with an angle grinder!!
  35. #35
    raisers were planned anyway willsy

have been since I got the mark 1 front end
  36. #36
alex and power tools is a no no he strimmered me ffs
  37. #37
haha I had a strimmer your ass was there

    these things happen lee
  38. #38
    bad rep ftw
  39. #39
attacking lee with a lawnmower ftw!!!

or whatever I can find to hurt you LOL
  40. #40
dont really see why you need bonnet raisers or bonnet vents.

    standard setup is fine.

if you're not happy, cut the scuttle out completely...

thats the best pic ive got at the moment
  41. #41

    or that one
  42. #42
gotta try and keep the chassis numbers on the scuttle
  43. #43
either tack weld it somewhere else in the engine bay, or just use the one in the boot
  44. #44
I have asked about it during talks about swapping chassis numbers and due to the fact I need to keep all identification marks on the chassis tonprove its that car

the plates can be changed as can if its been welded back in

its an arse of acrule but otherwise the car will never be road legal again
  45. #45
    hmmm interesting.

    fuck it, cut it out
  46. #46
ive always wondered what 206 bonnet vents would look like on a saxo..

Pretty wank imo, they won't follow the lines of the car.

Could you not box them like the 206 longman conversion and have a colf air feed coming from the fog or a morrette front light.

    Look like this....
  48. #48
    best way for it dan
  49. #49
alex what about cutting out centre of the the bonnet raising it up and back and using the low pressure area at the bottom of the screen to get cold air? like this but not as big obv.

look good and serve a purpose
  50. #50
kinds like I'm thinking now webby

tbh I might just leave the feed to the bodies that's on it as it comes
I'm just trying to improve but it was good anyway lol
  51. #51
    Nissan Terrano bonnet ftw

I was going to blend one into my old escort when that kind of thing was cool

  55. #55
Just cut a big hole in the bonnet and have bodies poking out lol. As much air as they need then. Obviosly you'd need to fashion some kind of cover for when it rains though
  56. #56
    water injection
  57. #57
haha water + bodies = not good lol
  58. #58
    natural water injection hey pooline
  59. #59
just get louvres alex much better than any vent although they just allow heat to escape, basically thesame thing imo, remember its a saxo
