Furio as fast as VTR

  1. #1
this might be a noob question....
is it possible to make a furio as fast as a STANDARD vtr?
like with a mani + exhaust decat system, cams, filter, throttle bodies
can you do enough to one to make it keep upto one?
i know that predators VTR wastes my furio, but mines completely standard and hes done quite a bit of work on his

No doubt you could but it'd take quite a bit of £££. Enjoy the Furio and save for a VTR/ S mate.

yeah it is possible to get close to 100 BHP with decat, mani, throttle bodies etc but it depends how much you want to spend on making it as fast as the VTR and also depends what power your engine is running standard.

Well my westcoast can keep up with VTRs ish, untill 70mph+ then they just pull away

im not planning to do this i was just curios
    thats for the help though

well with breathing mods ie exhaust, filter manifold and then get it cammed then it should be to about a standard vtr no bother, but for the cost of all of them its cheaper to just get a vtr engine in or vts engine

Might be a cheap way of trying to get it close:

    good filter,
    4-2-1 manifold,
    'box'd' de-cat
good cat back exhaust system (maybe with a silencer box in it)
    quikshift
    1.1 box - shorter ratios/higher final drive

most importantly - strip some weight out - free increase in acceleration.

GSR Engineering will do you an induction kit guaranteed to actually give you a gain, friend with a 1.4 8v 206 is running at 90bhp with the induction kit as proven on a rolling road. You may find your standard output is actually much higher than quoted- on our rolling road day all the cars were putting out more than quoted standard. The 1.1s all had 63bhp-66bhp standard, the 1.4s were 83-87bhp standard and the 1.6s were 93-98bhp standard- all 8v engines.

I'd recommend a decent induction kit, a 4-2-1 manifold, a revised inlet manifold (maybe a unit from a 1.6), and an upgraded throttle body- also from a 1.6- and then a remap to tie it all together. Overall, it should be around £100-£150 for a genuinely good induction kit, £150 for a Raceland 4-2-1 manifold (eBay), about £30-£50 for a VTR inlet manifold (might get the throttle body with it) and £199 for a remap from Red Dot Racing- that's the group discount price.

just drop the vtr lump in 2bh mate probs be cheaper im sellin my engine soon if intrested

for the effort of an engine swap make it alot faster and drop a turbo in there if you got some cash faster than a S then if all done right!

lol im not interested in actually doing any of these things like an engine swap
i was just wondering if its possible

surly 4-1 manifolds are better then 4-2-1 though.....

a 4-1 manifold will give you power gains higher up the rev range compared to the more conventional 4-2-1 where the power gains are in the midrange more.

same as above, just either get a vtr or drop a vtr engine in.

106oc chairman got 96bhp from his Quiksilver, with
    Mani
    Decat
    Induction
    VTR inlet
    VTR injectors

Then went onto add a Kent PT40 cam.

Mate of mine bought the engine off him, and I was in the car when he went past 2 different VTRs.
The 1.4 gearbox would have helped too.

Get an S1 rallye box, manifold and exhaust, induction kit, should see you keep up if not quicker
