VTS conversion

now i know people do the saxo vts conversion? but has anyone transfered the xsara vts engine to a saxo, as they are 167bhp, 2 litre, n gotta admit has an awful lot of potential to be a beast with power to weight ratio, plus a nice turbo added for more fun.

but for the meantime, has anyone done this conversion?

    been covered before

the xsara engine is too big and too heavy for putting in a saxo

it probably has been done before but the sheer amount of work to even fit it in the saxo engine bay wil cost the earth...then all the problems afterwards such as braking etc makes it a worthless excercise

better off turbo'ing or supercharging a saxo vts, or buying a different car

same as joe said really, i think it has been done but the engine is too big and you have to have alot of modifications done to the car.

not worth spending that amount of money when you will probably get too many problems.

damn! thought it would have so much more potential, i have sitting at home an mi16 engine that was for my gti, now i know this is peugeot but that also was an option as the engine itself realy isnt that heavy to be honest,

ive once seen a saxo with a civic type r engine in an that thing was bonkers, jus wanted somethin a little less ordinary like,

turbo is gonna end up my only option!

type r in a saxo? have you got any proof of that?

    hmm sounds suspect

u cud always supercharge or get throttle bodies also! turbo's arent the ONLY option

but y bother with a saxo, and just buy a bigger engined car?

and if u hav the mi-16, get it into a 205 - itl b rapido

Back when I first joined sax-p, one of my first ever threads was regarding dropping a Xsara VTS lump into the saxo.
Unfortunately for me, I was informed (as you have been) that they do not go in with the greatest of ease.

Saying this, Pug Performance (I think) have just finished the engine side of things on a saxo with 2 (yes TWO!) 306 Gti-6 engines in.
Shows that quite literally anything is possible with the right amount of time AND money.
Xsara VTS engine and Gti-6 engine are the same, except Gti-6 has 6 gears.

For ease of fitting and still have decent potential, get a VTS lump and sort yourself a turbo

dont know about the twin engined gti-6 saxo but pug performance were working on putting a gti-6 in a saxo when mine was in last october getting a vts engine a think colin said it would be about 4 grand for the conversion

Mi-16 into a pug 106 has been done, but it cost the owner the thick end of 12grand just for the engine conversion. then there's the brakes etc on top of that.
you spend 12grand on a vts engine, you're gonna have one quick saxo, and as a bonus you keep the good handling due to the vts lump being lighter than the Mi-16/Gti-6/Xara vts lumps.

lot of money that, n dont really wanna spend silly money, just want it to ava good bit of go in her, 3k tops on the motor is all i wanna spend!

can be done but its mega dosh and all that for 167bhp? it would screw up the handling with the weight which is fine if your on the roman roads but in the uk forget it.

Better to put the vts in and then tune/charge it.
