Raceland mani + induction dyno tested

  1. #1
Had car on dyno today and the question is asked so many times i thought id post up my details

"Whats gains will i get from a raceland stainless steel 4-2-1 mani fold and raceland induction kit with green filter"

2001 mk 2 saxo vts, 59k miles fully serviced every 6 months or less without fail!

Stage 1) Standard car with A-Pro induction kit crome piped to front of engine bay, De-cat and 3.5" Back box ::: Dyno results:131.0bhp

Stage 2) A-Pro induction kit crome piped to front of engine bay, De-cat, 3.5" back box, kent PT50's and new hydraulic followers setup and mapped on standard ecu with high octane fuel ::: Dyno results:142.4bhp

Stage 3)All of stage 2 with the addition of a stainless steel 4-2-1 raceland manifold heat wrapped and raceland induction kit with green filter,............
Dyno results 148.4 (although it was scorching weather when dyno was done)

The dyno tester (corten miller) said he saw 149.6bhp but he printed out the average result from 3 runs. All the dyno runs at ALL stages were performed in gear 3, tyre pressure 50psi and premium fuel.

    Raceland parts gained me 6-8bhp

Hope this helps guys..keep your eyes peeled as she's back in on the 28th for tb's, stand alone omex ecu etc.

    Very good figures mate, welldone.

Raceland gave you some extra good gains then

thanks Indeed, although everyone says it, i do look after the engine and don't boot it everywhere i go and don't often give it hard standing starts.

Nice to see some positive results there, although not many people doubt the racelands performance, its the durability it lacks in due to the thin metal and welds its made from!

not bad gains in bhp there

cheers guys jus hope the info is useful for any1 wantin to buy the mentioned bits

    Very helpful mate

very helpful for me, many thanks and good readings!

would have been good to get an idea of the figures with the manifold just with the decat and back box/ air filter combo.

still good gains over all though

Did corten miller set up the omex well and did you also get the kent cams from them? They local to me too so would be the easiest option for me to cam my vts but would love to hear how you got on with them, been once before with my vtr few years back and didn't seem too bad....

sorry for posting so l8 mate but yes corten miller, the guy who i think is the boss is called ben he's great i cant fault him, he seems to know his stuff, doesn't talk crap, and has done a few bits for me including the cams etc. i did get the kent cams through him and he won't give you a bs rolling road figure either its absolutely pukka no turnin it up a bit.

i dont have the omex on now im on standard management however this monday its in for tb's and omex etc so ill more than likely be posting up the dyno results etc when i get the car back

oh and considering my car is mapped on standard ecu the idling is spot on and no lumpyness AT ALL!! and he's kept a good power curve rather than all top end grunt.

the whole buzz for raceland manifolds came when daveP did back to back tests on them with a gmc 4-1 on a 708/715d TBd 16v s1 rallye.

its not just the power that the raceland gave over the 4-1 people prefered the torque curve, it was alot smoother over the whole powerband.

h8 to agree lol but corten miller said precisely tht!
  14. #14
its much smoother, ill try and dig out the graphs.

i dont know if the qep graphs ever came out with different manifolds though.

one thing worth pointing out though as the raceland isnt the best for all. A very high spec engine may require different diameter primaries to get the best from it.

Yeah, it was Ben who did it last time, would prob get cat cams instead though but I remeber him spending ages on my VTR, good stuff

    agreed

purely the build quality sucks imo
