does a ecu remap work?

#2need to do a fair few mods before you start looking at that mate

#3...........

#4you would'nt get that much from just them alone things like cams, bodies etc will see you a higher gain

#6Remapping is the way ahead for power gains, but the more modifications you have you will gain more power and torque from a remap.
A remap will adjust your fueling map, making the most of any breathing mods, filter, exhaust etc, correcting the fueling to get optimum AFR. The ignition map is also adjusted, basicaly the more you advance the ignition the more power you gain, but can only be advanced up to the point of detonation, at which point the ignition needs to be retarded a few degrees.
IMO, live mapping on the road is the best way to map.
Chips are ok, but is generally a fixed fuel/ign map and may not make the most of your specific mods. Also a lot cheaper than a remapremappable ecu!
Some chips can be remapped once installed into the standard ecu. These are pretty cool as they bridge the gap between a stand alone ecu and a fixed map chip
