smoothing boot

    hi all could someone help me and tell me what kint of metal i would need and gear to smooth my boot over the best and professional way dont really want to take it to a bodyshop lol

    do you need to weld it much and which kind of filler would i need for it and do i need 2 pack in behind it with anything

    needs cutting to the shape of the plate recess then welding all the way around. You also need to make sure it curves in the same directions as the boot.

    After welding/grinding the plate on, P38 filler is needed to smooth off any imperfections. Then paint.
    Its probably cheaper to let a bodyshop do it unless you have access to materials, a welder and a spray booth.

    I think most shops charge between £150 and £250 to do it, including paint.

    Unless you have it all already, hire of a welder = £50 a day I guess, Paint/laquer/hardner/primer/wet and dry/sandpaper = £150 and hire of a spray gun and compressor = £50 per day

    Total = £250 same as getting a body shop to do it in the first place.

    *EDIT* Forgot to include the price of a piece of steel in that (not sure how much steel goes for at the minute but at a guess it'd be more than a couple of quid, unless your gonna use an old car panel)
