Gearbox has gone!!

My gearbox has just gone on my 2002 saxo vtr which is best up rated gearbox i can get for my car??
  2. #2
id just stick with the same one wich is broke. the standard gear box is fine for everyday use, unless youve done some serious modifications to the engine etc you wont need a uprated one.

An uprated one will cost thousands..

Best off getting another standard box..And look after it and treat it with abit of respect..

haha i do treat with respect. Should i put a vts gearbox in then? should get few gains off that shouldnt i?

Not really as the VTS box is designed for an engine which produces its torque and power high up in the rev range..This means when changing gear in the VTR it would always be landing on a higher RPM than it should..The VTR box makes the most out of the way the VTR engine is designed and setup..

When you say gone? completely fooked or just bearings (common problem)? either have it recon or hunt down for a recon box, no need to uprate as mentioned.

    try a 1.1l box
  11. #11
s1 or s2 rallye box will see best increase in acceleration without spending stupid money..or even xsi box
  12. #12
pug 1.4 xsi box if u do alot of motorway miles as s1 and s2 are a bit tedious..
  13. #13
the pug 1.4 xsi is just as bad. 4000 rpm at 70 does get boring!
  14. #14
mikey if you need a box I got a 1.1 box coming off my 106 as I am putting a S1 rallye one on
