106 and Saxo suspension compatibility

  1. #1
Quick question, will a Spax kit for a 1.1 106 be the same as a Saxo VTS kit?

ie Do Spax actually alter spring rates etc between the too?

there is usually a difference in spring rates between the models. Certainly there is on the Eibach range and Apex etc.

I'd fit higher spec springs to a lower spec model but not the other way around

Thought as much. Would the dampners be the same? Just theres a set cheap, localish.

Maybe I shouldn't be a cheap skate and get my wallet out eh!? lol

dont put 1.1 springs on a vts

    there waaay too soft
comparing my eibach vts springs (which i thought were a tad soft anyway) to my spax 1.1 springs there was a noticeably difference just squeezing the springs by hand

on the car the handeling would be horrific

    Cheers Alex, rep'd

A mate said they'd all be the same but I wasn't convinced, glad I asked now.

gsmotorsport once told me that all springs are the same, but its the engine weight that effects the height, eg..

    a 40mm VTS kit on a 1.1 would be around 25/30mm
    a 40mm 1.1 kit on a VTS would be around 50/55mm

its just down to the weight of the engine, this is what i have been led to belive anyways

obviously the shocks for a 1.1 will be shiteo n a vts as the dampening rate wont be at all sufficent, and i agree with kam if its a full kit upgrade but dont downgrade, VTS kit on a 1.1 , but not a 1.1 on a vts (due to the shocks n shiz)
