Whats the difference between getting one from a VTR, and an aftermarket one? Other than the VTR one will be much easier to fit?

If you are after one from a VTR - i've got one for sale

Actually will a 3.5 be enough for a vts with breathing mods?

For it to run smoothly because im getting flat spots?

Im assuming an FPR is what i need?

Its easy enough to swap over on a VTR - so i'm guessing a VTS will be about the same but never seen a VTS fuel rail.

Right no bother definately fits though? and will help it run smoothly?

As far as i'm aware - yes on both counts. But having never owned a VTS i'm not 100% positive, although i have been told several times that both are correct.

Got the FPR through a couple of days ago but i cant see where on the rail this goes? Do i have to strip the throttle body etc off to get into the rail?

Or can i get to it from the left hand engine mount side.

I can see the 2 pipes the fuel line and the return?

Anyone have any pictures on where it goes?

its on the right hand side where the TB is. pull the clip off and pull it out. push new 1 in refit pipe and refit clip.

Just fitted it about half an hour ago mate.

It has definately sorted the flat spotting.

    Thanks very much Repped.

Btw can you explain what exactly the fuel pressure regulator does? im guessing ups the fuel pressure?
  18. #18
regulates the fuel pressure, holds it at the pressure its set it, vts would be 3 bar, the 1 you have fited would be 3.5 bar.

Would be interesting to find out WHY you where getting the flat spots, unless you have had a remap? The standard VTS FPR should be perfectly fine for most of the common mods people perform

For those that do not know what it is. The fuel pump on all injection cars can pump up to between 6 and 10 bar of fuel pressure, but the system only wants a constant 3.5 bar, so the pressure has to be regulated to give an even 3.5 no matter what. Some may say, why not get the pump to just produce 3.5 bar, this does not work, as the pump will fluctuate in the pressure it delivers, especially as it gets old and because it has to force the fuel through the fuel filter, so to over come these factors the pressure is deliberately made a lot higher and regulated just before the injection process.

Car is running standard map as far as im aware.

The way i see it is i have a forced induction and full system so in theory increased air going in and coming out with standard fuelling, with the car flatspotting under hard acceleration.

Only thing i could think of was lack of fuel when it was needed, and this seems to have solved the problem.

Flat spots occured frequently 10 times or more over a 14 Mile journey (70Limit)

Now im lucky if it does it more than twice.

Also Idle was very very lump, if left for 5 minutes it would run so rough it would be as if it would cut out, just before it cut out it would always rev itself up.

    Now idles smooth.

forced induction is turbo or superchargher mate. the lambda and MAP sensors etc should keep your fuelling correct with your mods.

yea sorry i meant Induction Kit im sure on some websites its called forced induction kits maybe im wrong though.

Thats another thing is there anyway to run a Wide Lambda sensor aswell as the normal 1 on a mk1 VTS to c if it runs rich or lean etc? Might be worth getting no?

1 of my mates has 1 on his Civic Jordan but relplaces the normal 1 and throws the EML on

EDIT: Maybe my lambdas on the way out if its still flatspotting slightly?
Just weird that the FPR made a big difference which would suggest fuelling problem?
