  3. #3
lol cheers fos, will try later, ill eventually get it off, just need to know if its easy to get off when its heated up a bit or cold
  4. #4
Surely if you wedge something in between you could damge the lip?

Hit it with a rubber hammer.
  5. #5
    rubber mallet ftw pred
  6. #6
flat headed screwdriver between lip and bottom of block.

tap it with hammer, move the screwdriver round and hey presto.

was the same on the bottom end i ripped up for fun

    dont hit the sump.

Hit the screwdirver, you dont want to hit the sump and damage it LOL!
  12. #12
on i know that, so once on bit starts to open it will follow hopefully
  13. #13
Are you sure your oil leak is coming from the sump joint? I was just wondering, what with it being so hard to separate from the block
  14. #14
the leak is coming from further back so towards the back of the car, its definatelt the sump though as ive checked everything else
  15. #15
once you have the seal broken on most of it you can lever it off easily with the flathead.
  16. #16
good good ill let you know how i get on
  17. #17
you done it yet you girl?
  18. #18
not yet just waiting for someone to come in so i can go out
  19. #19

  20. #20
its off now and all sealed up, just leave it till tomorrow now to put the oil in

hopefully she has sealed, took me an hour to get the sealent off

i put a good amount on spilled over the dies a tiny bit to should be fine
  21. #21
How you get it off in the end fella?
  22. #22
well eventually got a knife around the front part to cut through the sealent, then put a screwdriver in with a hammer in a few places

crowbar eventually prised it off,wil be nice and clean in there now anyway, beautiful sight the bottom end is

might not be yet, its still leaking a bt but in a different place, so ill leave it a few days to see if the gasket fully seals if no then off it comes again
  25. #25
    yea be very gentle
  26. #26
If you read the entire thread you'll see he's done it.
  27. #27
i have but it failed lol

its off again later for a good clean up and a different gasket
  28. #28
I used Loctite blue for the sump, left it overnight (about 6hours, had a 1/4mile the next day) and that sealed fine.
  29. #29
Remember to loosely tighten the bolts, then work around tightening them all up.
  30. #30
yeah got the torque wrench at the helms mate

think ill try that loctite blue you suggested gabbs
