Important! : Coil Pack Question!!

  1. #1
just got the car back after 8 days in the garage!
had all electrics sorted other things too...

My mechanic said its the coil pack causing misfire, after changing and checking everything else.
Reason for this is it has a small crack going through the thinnest part of the pack; when you look at it, it looks like its in two pieces.

Would this be the cause? Any defects on a coil pack causes a problem?!

Rep given to detailed answers please!

coil packs can be the cause of missfiring, get a new one from gsf car parts for £20 and fit it yourself, take 10mins tbh.

    Theres two different types.

The aquare one is about £20 from a scrappie (side of the head)
The long one is about £40 (Behind the head)

Problem could be anything with it. Quite common really

I can get you a square one CHEAP

if the coil pack is cracked it can cause it to misfire because the spark takes the easiest route for itself so it would go to the crack first, old distributers were bad for it ave seen a couple of coils like that would defo misfire with a crack in it mate
