BHP before and after induction kit! Results.

   Heya guys,
   
   I was always skepitcal weither induction kits make any difference to bhp or not, and i have read a few threads on here that seem to suggust they do pretty much sweet FA.
   
   Well, my friend went to go and get his car dyno'd and took his cold air induction with him, and before it made 145bhp, and after it made 150bhp.
   
   So thats not bad, 5bhp more then i was expecting tbh.

   What induction kit was it?
   
   That seems like great results.
   
   Was anything else changed while on the dyno? IE the position of any cooling fans, did outside air temp remain the same?

   its a 2.0l hyundai coupe, the induction kit is cone by the front bumper (lol, dont know what its called) its unbranded. Yeah all the conditions were exactly the same.

   You will probably find the standard airbox was creating a restriction, old dirty filter/dirty airbox/oil residue in the pipework, all add's up.
   
   How old was the standard filter element?
   
   One of the best things i find more making a standard car more responsive, clean the damn inlet system! And change the air filter
   
   graphs would be great, makes so much more sense when you can see whats going on.

   the filter at very most would have been 9 months old, i will try and get the graphs up but they are printed. the bhp with the induction was better through out the rev range on the graph which was 3k rpm upwards. also the touque was improved by 10lbs.

   sounds pretty good, i have seen a few peeps that have lost hp by induction kits.

    if the cone was by the front bumper that might be why as it would be getting very good cold airflow and wouldnt be taking in as much hot air from the engine.

    We got our lupo on the rollers yesterday and it made I think 6 bhp over standard with the BMC CDA.. but we bolted on a home brew attempt and made even more power. Will get Jon to dig out the graphs
    
    Thus inspired we're going to make our own kit for the lupo and maybe soon for the VTS as well

    ive heard that standard hyundai coupe filters are restricted and how people modify them for easy bhp increase, this could be why the big increase when changing?
