just really woundering ho people go about passing emission test on mot when running throttle bodies?
tb's

#1
-
#2shouldnt be an issue with tbs as long as youve got the cat in place and its been mapped properly
carbs are where you run in to trouble as they are a bastard to setup in the first place, let alone make them give clean emissions -
#320 quid tbh
-
#4If its been mapped well it should be pass emissions with flying colours.
-
#5depends what cam you have
-
#6was just interested really as a friend has a 306 gti6 running tb's and piper 280 cam and he says it wont pass the MOT on emissions
-
#7tb's are just like any other car for emissions really, its the cam profile that really messes things up, that sounds a mildish cam (not true 280?) so if its mapped with emissons in mind it should be ok.
-
#9the piper range arent dont match to the name of them. eg a 285 is a 260. a 300 is a 285
a true 285 wont pass mot
im sure danny typing the same lol -
#11bullet owned me......
-
#12cheers lads was just interested by that so thought i would ask for some superior knowledge!
-
#13Any car can pass, no matter what the cam, no matter what the setup.
Map it too pass. Simple. -
#15what he means is if your running a standolone you can alter the map to suit. so when it comes mot time you upload you saved mot passing map. pass, then drive off and change it
-
#16you dont even need to alter that map, just create a "MOT" map and a performance map tehn swap the over after.
-
#18On a standard TB steep cams destroy emissions, this is because of charge robbing etc meaning it's impossible to get a clean burn no matter how well it's mapped. With aftermarket ones, depending on setup and mapping you should be able to get almost any cams to pass a test.
-
#19thanks that has helped me alot, in other words no matter what cam you can make it pass the mot fairly easily then just revert back to performance after
-
#20Yeah, it takes a fair bit of tweeking on the mapping with 803s to get it MOT passable, and with a cat fitted.
