Ok ave been racking my mind trying to figure out whats up with the gf's vts , there's a knocking noise only appears as ur slowing down to stop , only hear it when u let off the accelerator say from 10mph-0mph , and knocks with each rotation off the wheel , it doesnt effect braking , steering , i've checked for play in the driveshafts (passenger side replaced 100miles ago) , checked play in both front wheels to check bearings (both seem solid) , checked wishbone bolts in footwells (solid) , checked balljoints both seem ok , drivers side hub seems to have a little buckle in it but not bad dont think it would be that as it happens before u brake , soon as u let off teh accelerator at slow speeds it'll do it , also replaced both discs and pads 100miles ago , tried jacking both sides up and running teh car in 3rd letting teh wheels rotate cant find out whats up

Any ideas guys ? going to strip it to its arse tommorow till a find out whats up , thought a would ask here first , HELP!

Does in sound like its coming from either side or central, mine had a knocking noise, well its had hundreds of knocking noises tbh and replaced everything to do with front suspension/brake side of things and finally sorted it.

I found that i had a knocking noise that was pretty central and was inner cv joint, could well be drivers side inner joint if you have already replaced passenger side. Doesnt always cause play as mine didnt.

Could also be lack of gearbox oil causing a knocking noise as had that too.

Only way really is to determine where its coming from and then go from there.

well the gearbox low on oil was one a the things i was going to check as replacing the passenger side driveshaft it may not have seated right with the seal correctly , i'll check that tommorow but it was fine at the time of fitting , might try swapping the drivers side driveshaft from my vts to hers n see if that sorts it , its hard to tell where the noise is from am stumped first thought was driveshaft but with it having no play turned my attention to other bits

does it do it when its out of gear and the car is slowing down?

havent tried it out of gear but when u slow down with or without the clutch in it makes the noise , only hear it from 10-0mph when slowing down , soon as u pull away its fine , even driving along in slow moving traffic there's no noise unless u take ur foot off the accelerator , so a think its drive related and not suspension related

Just to clear up , the problem with the knocking was cheap brake pads ratteling about in the caliper , when sat in the caliper there was play in them , the new pads (delphi) fitted much better and solved the knocking

So dont be tempted folks to buy really cheap brake pads from ur local motorfactors like a did
