    could an exhaust manifold from a mk1 be straight swapped for a manifold on a mk2 as a way of decatting my mk2?

    Yeah, but will need to change the oil filter.

    as above it would foul the later model oil filters so you'd need to fit a mk1 oil filter and thread and block the hole left in the block with an m10 bolt.
