The next step after breathing mods for bhp

The next step after breathing mods for best bhp increase

so Ive got supersprint mani then supersprint exhaust system, lowered 50mm all round raceland induction complete with green airfilter wats the next step camms or throttlebodies im not entirely sure say ive got a 1k to spend ideas plz anything will do thanks JC
  2. #2
For 1k i'd spend it on management, this gives you a good base for future mod's and will improve the car more than anything else IMO.
  3. #3
when you mean mangement do you mean remap and ECu stuff sorry a little vague im a newbie remember sorry sounds good though just a little more detail
  4. #4
you wont afford bodies and you need a cam anyway

for that you can have a cam and mapped
  5. #5
management will be a standolone system, so new one. no point if your not going bodies
  6. #6
i reckon you should go for a cam, get some headwork done and get a remap, although throttle bodies are good, you'd need a standalone ecu and a custom inlet manifold which would take you well over your budget. Plus once cammed, if in a while you save up some more cash, throttle bodies are still obviously available if you want
  7. #7
    next step is the chassis.

Cage, upper / lower strut brace, quality shocks / springs, sticky tyres

I guarantee you'd be faster than with spending the same budget on engine mods alone
  8. #8
Any idea where i can get a standalone mangment system and what does this do techinically so cams it is and remap what does headwork envolve sorry for being a total noob gotta start somwhere
  9. #9
standalone would be stuff like emerald, its just a custom ecu basically though cost up to 1k so very expensive. Get your head gas flowed, makes the most of the cam
  10. #10
thinking about it for 1k you could get a VTS lump in there, although maybe not what u want, you are still gaining 20+ hp and have the potential for more gains further down the line..

cheers i'll look into it thanks

shud i worry about upgrading brakes at all or anything like that cos i will be going a bit quicker and finally wat bhp are you looking at after camming and remap thanks
  12. #12
    do brakes first

    prob around 120 130
  13. #13
DEFINITELY get some brakes! 306 gti setup will set you back about £300 but it is soo worth doing! You should also consider stiffening up your suspension so cope with corners, its not all about hp!
well its easily possible to have 120hp+ if you do all of that, think thats more then enough for a fellow 17 year old!

120 as in size or is that disc size because i herd something about 306 calipers
  15. #15
    sorry thats power lol

yeah 306. if vtr alloyes the 266 conversion. get them for 100. check forsale
  16. #16
the 306 discs are 283mm diameter

they do the job quite well definatley get a set as kam said sort the chassis out
otherwise your lovely fast vtr will be a lovely piece of scrap

make it stop and turn as well as it accelerates
  17. #17
    haha you lemon about 120hp
think 306 discs are bout 283mm iirc
  18. #18
cheers so before camming i shud sort breaks and maby throw in there a strut brace and other chassis parts to stablise on turns ect
  19. #19
    yea id say so
    get a lower brace
    a set of brakes
maybe some decent rubber (most important bit of all)

theres your 1k gone but it is well spent
  20. #20
that would be smarter yep! brakes are a must, then depending on your style of driving you decide if you want power or handling first

i'll definitly need a car that handels well lol not that expereinced yet with speed

kk i'll probably buy a tyre wheel package and get some rims gonna miss the classic VTR alloys lol black car should i get shadowed, white, black rimns, or even gold im think shadowed/ black

yea and would i need new brake discs if i get the big 306 calipers
  22. #22
    yea youll need bigger discs

the 306 ones will fit the sao so if you can get them too your golden lol!!
  23. #23
obviously colour is up to you! you can go the whole stealth theme and get black alloys and smoke lights i suppose? Well as long as you get 15" rims you'll be fine for bigger discs
  24. #24
cant wait gonna hav to do little more saving with the money i'll get there soonish yea ive got a really good idea now how I should go about the next few steps cheers

So should i get 16"s or 17" or are they too big for a saxo
  26. #26
they would look stupid and compromise your acceleration
    get 15s as i said
  27. #27
I didnt know bigger rims affects acceleration i was under the impression bigger wheels larger surface area more power at wheel or something anyway before camming shud i do the breaks and strut braces or wait after camming and when you cam do you have to remap
  28. #28
well bigger wheels definitely do not make acceleration better!
do brakes first, then as I said its up to you! You don't have to remap it but if you want a smooth idle and max power, its the smart thing to do
  29. #29
if you cam your car does it affect how much fuel you use up and will you use more just wondering
  30. #30
haha yup you would definitely be using more fuel, it wouldnt be ridiculous but mpg would drop for sure
  31. #31
just been looking at these does this help you go quicker i mean if you can cnage gear quicker surely you can reach higher speed quicker

    http://www.kamracing.co.uk/peugeot-2...models-56.html

im not sure though just wondering
  32. #32
will simply reduce the time it takes to shift, so less time is wasted not accelerating, minimum difference really though, a faster car will still be faster! Though apparently they do make the shifts a lot firmer and nicer, quite a nice lil mod i guess
  33. #33
they are quite cheap really how hard are they to put in yourself or would I need an expert or just a garage
  34. #34
    easily done yourself mate.
With a bit of instruction should only take 20 minutes
ill help you out if you need

yeah they are. i meant the 266 setup from a 206 gti

as said 15 are the perfomance wheel or keep your 14s and keep it standard looking.
  36. #36
Save some money, get 206 GTI brake setup for roughly £100 and keep your VTR rims, saving money all the way.

thanks so would you say the GTI 206 setup is better than the 306 calipers any idea where i could get these from cheers
  38. #38
you are a confused boy JC
206 setup will not be better then the 306 set up, but fit in 14" wheels so you dont need to get new alloys
get them from eurocarparts or gsf
    much love

1.Lower strut base - A couple for sale in the for sale thread - At most £50
2.266mm Conversion - Think theres a set in the for sale thread too - £150 with some decent pads and disc's
    3.Tyres - I Would recommend toyo proxies - £40-£50 a pop
In all £400 and as said before dont make your car like a 2.0 Corsa fast in a straight line and In a ditch evry corner
