engine noise

   started my vtr 1.6 8v up this morning as you do but i let her warm up first before going anywhere, suddenly ive noticed a tapping noise,sounds like it is coming from the top left hand side just under the rocker cover,any thoughts on what it could be (suggestions would be great)thankyou

   Tappets may need adjusting/cleaning??

   I would also go with tappets, have you checked the rocker gasket though for any leaks or breaks? also check your oil level!

   oil level fine just had a service (but i did check just in case) rocker cover seal replaced at same time as service,where are the tappets located(sorry not very mechanical but learning)

   mine has a similar sound,went to a garage and he said my gearbox is slowly giving up,i didnt believe him tbh,it changes gear fine etc, clutch in = quiet clutch out = louder thats my car lol
