what do charger and turbo boys use!?

    graham

helix clutches i think are quite good but do cost round the £300 mark.

what you had done to get 165bhp if you dont mind me asking?
  3. #3

    DOH!!!!!!

    kent fast road cams
    ported and polished head
    4-2-1 manifold
    decat pipe
    dual 4inch exit exhaust
    k&n 57i indution kit
    power boost valve
ecu chiped and re-mapped so itll rev further in each gear

i have got the pug sport clutch in mine, but i wish i would have gone for the bigger and better one.pug sport should be more than adequte
  6. #6

yea it did go like shit off a shovel b4 the clutch started slipping!!!! havent had an official 0-60 time done yet but my friend timed me at 6.2 just after i had the engine tuned!!
and i had 139mph down the motorway!!!

pretty fuckin nippy then pal, bet ul get a better top end tho, iv ad 133mph out ov my vts running filter n xzorst mate, wonder if i might get a tiny bit more now the cats out?????
  8. #8

hopefully i mite get bout 145mph out of it but theres 2 many police hiding in bushs these days so i try not 2 speed 2 much anymore!!!
you should get bit more with a de-cat pipe cause you get better air flow!!!

    graham

My mates got manifold, zorst and filter etc.. on his pug 106 gti and wen i drove it, it seems to pull a lot harder in 2nd and 3rd than my vts! The full system wiv de-cat and manifold makes the car a lot more driveable. If your getting de-cat i would well reccomend gettin a manifold aswell! Shouldnt be long now b4 i get my system. It feels really choked up wiv standard cat etc...
  10. #10
yeah ive got a cat back system, i work at a tyre n xzorst place so i made my own de cat, n now am just saving for my manifold mate. defo pulls bit beta with the de cat
  11. #11

yea defo get a 4 branch!!
it seems 2 roar bit more wiv the 4 branch!!!!
    which we like!!!!

  12. #12
graham get an enclosed air filter as the open one will be sucking in warm air. you will notice a difference with an enclosed one.
  13. #13

yea, was thinking bout that!! what bout eclosed forced induction kit!?

    graham
  14. #14
the best ones to go for wold be the bmc enclosed, green enclosed or the piperx viper.

not really forced induction as the engine will only take as much air as it needs.
  15. #15
i think am gona go for a green or pro comp ram soon, d they sound ne good? they look fuking mint aswel attatched 2 the slam panel
  16. #16
you'll be lucky finding a pro-comp one mate, they went bust ages ago. green enclosed filters are good from what i've heard.
  17. #17
shit! they look fukin sweet aswel, do u no if they sound any good?
  18. #18
    ha ha
  19. #19
never actually heard a saxo with an enclosed filter. there's more than a few guys on here who have them though, i'm sure they could tell you.
  20. #20
Helix or pugsport will both do the job. But if you go for more power in the future then you might have to change to the AP Twin plate. Which Simo runs I think
  21. #21
an enclosed filter does sound nice yeah but they are no where near as loud as an open filter.

    alot better for performance though.
  22. #22
Enclosed filters are much better, i even prefer the sound!

as for a clutch, have you thought about a Black Diamond?

£140 posted to you from me
  23. #23

thanx 4 all ur imput guys/girls keep it comin! espically on the clutch and induction side of things!!!!
my k&n 57i has a lovely sound but id trade that 4 more power!!!! as my xzorst sounds very nice aswell!!!!
bout the clutch, ive heard that black diamond is pretty much a standard clutch wiv a fancy name!!!!!? and costs more than a standard clutch!!!!
i can get a standard clutch for bout £89!!

    graham
  24. #24
yeah ive heard that black diamond r meant to be crap aswel, is that right? gotta be better then standard seen as tho there meant be n uprated clutch? just wot ive heard like
  25. #25
when i went to larkspeed a while ago i spoke to the guys in there and they told me that black diamond are recons
  26. #26
only experience i have of black diamonds is on my mates rally escort, it ate the black diamond just as fast as it ate standard clutches
  27. #27
Helix clutches. Best place to purchase?
    Or the AP twin ?
Matt. What are you on ?

I'm needing to sort the clutch on mine and I'm trying to decide what one to go for.

On a Sunday , you gimpoid!

Seen a Helix on the Helix suppliers website for £280 (for my model, up to 99)
Not sure whether I should go AP on the turbo though.
Will prob get it all done at Carworx soon, is they can quote me some good prices. As they are quite local to me.
  31. #31
Helix is rated at 160lb of torque, forget power as its torque that kills clutches, cant see how the alleged 160bhp car can be killing the standard clutch unless your wheel spinning and slipping it all the time as it wont have the torque to do it.

Helix is best choice for mile power charged (mild being less than 200bhp, less than 170lb of torque ie most superchargers if not all as s/c doesnt create massive torque low down so doesnt need AP)

AP is for mega power, rated at about 350bhp 240/260lb.
  32. #32
Always best to replace standard clutch when going turbo anyway. Wouldn't you say ??

Mines sometimes hard to get in gear. Linkages?
    Biting point is very low.
and when clutch is not depressed, it whirs quite loudly and sometimes knocks a bit.
Replace clutch and Clutch release bearing??

Think I may just get a Helix then.
  33. #33
you would HAVE to replace the std clutch if you went turbo lol it wouldnt last long (3 days is my record and that was just normal driving with the odd overtaking, was slipping from day 1 before it came apart)

Hard to get in gears = Gearbox oil, linkageas, selector, rubber part on gear selector.

Bighting poing = clutch cable etc.

sounds like release bearing but could also be worn forks on clutch.

If not going mega power, mega power = mega money then get helix.
  34. #34
no idea why i spelt biting "bighting" lol
  35. #35
    thats what I mean yes.
My turbo is still on standard clutch.
And as i'd need to replace it (due to above probs) I may aswell get the right one for it .
  36. #36
yeah else if it stops slipping and exploads it can take out your box, clutch, rad, and anything else in its way!, seen it a few times
  37. #37
SaxoAL - I'm now running the Helix. Did have an AP Twin Plate, but as I use the car everyday. I just couldnt get use to it.

I looked like a learner driver and now my left leg is built like Arnie
  38. #38
Where from and how much did you get yours for Matt?
Even Simos AP twin seems a bastard to get used to !
Seen helix one for £280 delivered.
but newer model (99> I think) was a different clutch? And more expensive..
  39. #39
I bought mine of ebay, came with a helix flywheel as well. Use to be in tricky's old saxo of ssc.

AP Twin is a pain in the arse to get use 2. Hence the reason I sold it. But if you do go over the 200bhp @ the wheels I would suggest the AP. Thats the only clutch that will take the power.
  40. #40
just out of interest why is the cluch hard to get used to?
  41. #41
it weighs a fair amount plus there is no real give in the biting point its a case of nothing, nothing, nothing, BITE like a mother fucker then stall
  42. #42
    lol@scott so true

    It"s either on or off
  43. #43
Helix coming my way this weekend
  44. #44
  45. #45
    lol, that explains it.
  46. #46
guess i am gonna have to get myself an ap clutch.how much are they?
  47. #47
£550+vat for single plate (really hard) or £640+ vat for the twin plate (allegadly almost near normal pedal pressure) both cases you need to send them your flywheel so they can mod it.
  48. #48
thats dera int it,but be worth the money i guess
  49. #49
can get a helix that can take 160lb or a ap that can take more than double that, you will need serious power to brake the AP.
