15" or 16"??

Deciding what size alloys to get.

    Car would be lowered 40mm

Would either get 15" 195/45/15 tyre
or would get 16" 195/45/16 tyre

Would I get rubbing at all on the 16" with that tyre and down 40mm?
What are the other advantages and disadvantages or 15's and 16's?

    Cheers

15's would be the best imo for perfomace on 195/45R15
If you fitted 16's you would have to fit 195/40r16 so they wouldnt rub at all on the back.

    15's ftw.

If your down 40mm, and running 195/45/16 you may experience some rubbing not 100% sure though. Im down 40mm but with a 40 profile tyre on 16's and there is no rubbing at all.

Although you will find that if you have a 40 profile tyre they will be slightly more expensive, but they do look really good imo.

15s I would say as well if you dont want the hassel of 16's rubbing

yehh and I'm planning on getting OZ superturismos which cost alot as it is, let alone with 40 profile tyres.
    Do 16's affect performance noticably?
Also how much extra are 40 profile as supposed to 45 profile if I was to get them as part of an alloys and tyre package?

I think they will charge you around 80 to charge the tyres to a 40 profile, but each company will be different. Also when you need new tyres it will cost you more not just when you first buy the wheels. If you did stick with a 45 profile you will have to do a small amount of arch work tbh.

Yeah i was looking at them wheels before i got mine, so know what you mean about the prices, ends up quite expensive with 40 tyres.
Well i used to have 15's before and tbh i havent noticed any difference performance wise, feels exactly the same.

And for the price difference what OLLYVTS said is about right.

To be honest i dont think the 16s would rub. My wheels dont rub, im running 15s and am lowered a hell of alot more then 40mm. I reckon youd get away with it mate. Could also depend on what your after though, track car or subtle cruise weapon? lol

hmm probably not a track car, just a day to day modified car lol
but if i could get 45 tyres on 16's without rubbing i would definatly get them
