Induction Kit for a 1.1?

  1. #1
Right so im possibly looking into an induction kit for my 1.1, but dont really know what to go for.

Just want to gauge prices and difficulty of fitment and stuff.

This is my engine, i believe its an mpi engine, but not 100% sure as i dont know how to tell the difference, was just told it was.

Wouldn't bother unless you just want a nice roar to it? - because it wouldn't give much if not any power increase atall...If so the pipercross foam filters are supposed to be the loudest

    just like my engine lol

i got told my engine is a blacktop ? not sure what it is lol
  4. #4
Not on the same line mate but how did you fit that strut brace?
  5. #5
Pipercross panel filter would be your best bet on that engine, seems to be ok on my 1.1

if you're gonna put a panel filter in stick to green or k&n

it easy, just unscrew the nuts that hold the suspension arm inplace (while the car IS NOT jacked up or anything) put the brace on and tighten screws again.

    not worth it mate

inductions just sound chavvy when put on a 1.1 imo

    no offence to you personally

but they dont give much power, and when it comes to sell itll be harder due to mods on engine

I think its utter bollocks when people say it won't make a difference. Of course it will.

    1) Look at snewham's sax...it had a raceland induction kit and supersprint manifold with exhaust system and that made 75bhp instead of its standard 60.

    2) Look at that evolution's 206. That made an extra 7bhp due to an induction kit alone.

Mine currently has a 4-2-1 manifold on, and that has made quite a fair difference in power. Im hoping for around 60bhp+ when it has its induction on (50bhp standard).

Go for something like a raceland or BMC is you have the money mate. It will make a difference if you have other mods such as manifold and system etc. Just because you dont have a VTR doesn't mean that if won't affect it as it WILL!!

Well said Harv. It follows sense that any Saxo Engine whether 8v 1.1, 1.6 or 16v 1.6, it will have an similar ratio increase. Granted You may see more of an improvement in higher power cars, but that's simply because it has more power to start with. I expect If a test was to be done, and you did the same mods (Induction, Mani etc) to both a 1.1 and a VTR the RATIO of "power" to "power gained" would be almost identical.

mate urs is an SPI engine not an MPI engine

same as mine i went for a green induction kit sounds great....

I agree although VTR/S's will see more difference as they breath better due to having larger engines. But like I said, you still will see a difference if you went on the rollers.

Mine will be going on them soon so I will be able to say how much I have gained due to the mods. Of course its never going to be as powerful as a VTR and you will probably never get to VTR bhp but insurance is a major factor in this. I also wouldn't class my 1.0 slow at all, it gets to 60 about the same as a 1.4 saxo just after that mine kind of slows down.

Evolution (think thats his name) will be looking at VTR power from a 1.1 206 engine. Thats nearly 30-40bhp more than standard (although he has done more mods to his engine but its still cool)!!

That's what I meant really. Say for example an exhaust system and an inclosed induction adds 15 BHP to a 98 BHP VTR, that's around a 15% power increase. A 15% power increase on a 1.1 would be around 9 BHP, which seems about the right amount (maybe a bit less), so I get what your saying about bigger engines having a bigger number increase, but I think in terms of the ratio of current power, to power gained, will be fairly similar across the whole range.

thats what i meant, but i was just being a spanner lol

cheers for all the responses guys, didnt think anyone would take an interest.

so think im going to get in contact with kamracing i think it is and check about fitment of an enclosed raceland.
  17. #17
i was going to do the same thing mate i really want to know if the raceland will fit mine, have you found any info out yet.
    adam.

yeah go for green sounds really nice

Raceland will fit, youll need to bend the supplied bracket to a L shape and maybe bodge another like i did but it fits fine and i think it does make a difference. Definatly picks up quicker ill give you that and speedo indicated 3/4mph faster in 1st gear.

Tbh its sounds alright, flew a bit of a nob at first but not i love it but jusifying £80 i duno.... (i wana gana make some fibreglass shells to be cheaper tbh but effort. Would cost pennies...
