Help! How do you remove the flywheel inspection plate?

I'm in the middle of removing the gearbox, but can't see how to do this.

    It's a mk1 vts btw.

    Thanks.

is it not bolted to the side of the box? bolted from the drivers side to the passenger side near the bottom of the down pipe?

if you cant remove that i suggest you stop now, if you cant remove three small bolts you will struggle to do a gearbox

there is a bolt going into it, 13mm then take the bolt taht goes through manifold to gearbox off, and think there is another one thats it.

did you even look for them? lol cant miss them, right in front of you. Then just pull the plate out.

lol its not hard to remove as said, mine was fixed on with one bolt

might be best for you to buy a haynes manual tbh or if your unsure get someone else to help or do it for you

Thanks for the replies (well, most of them )

For the record, it has 2 fixings. One obvious bolt at the bottom (which I'd already removed) and the other fixing is a bolt that goes through the front/down pipe bracket into the gearbox - I just didn't realise this was a bolt - I thought it was a fixed stud, I'd already removed the nut from it.

And I do have a haynes manual - but it just says "remove the flywheel inspection plate".

Yes, once you know it's obvious.

Anyway, got there in the end - box off, clutch changed, box back on.

    Thats a lie

Other wise they wouldn't make it.

Stops water and shit getting onto the flywheel and clutch

I would put it back on, without a doubt.

Dont know why you bumped this old thread? lol
