Im thinking about getting my 97 VTR engine reconditioned but im after some rough guide prices for having this done and also can this task be performed by any garage or is it best to leave it to performance tuners?

#2What do you mean....as in completely reconditioned?? Not really worth the money.
I know...drop the engine and spend 2 weeks in your garage and rebuild it yourself. Give it a nice clean....and few new parts. New piston rings if you really want to go that far.
Whats your motives? -
#3well the cars been sitting for a year untouched and I got it through the mot alright with some money thrown at it but its starting to sound more like a diesel every day i drive it.

#5Oh yeah it got serviced aswell and has been receiving regular top ups due to my rather heavy right foot.
Im just baffled on what to do. -
#6your cam or tappets might be fucked. take it to a garage and get them to look at it before you throw money at a recon. and anyway, it might work out cheaper/the same to throw in a vts lump...
