Serious rubbage!

    Hi folks,

quicky; Had a full car last night and the tyres were being rubbed on the arch (flat arch)

The car is standard bar 15" wheels with low profile tyres, although i am unlikely to have this problem again as very rarely have a full car - but if i were to replace some of the suspension elements with aftermarket ones...what would i need to rectify the situation?

    Stiffer springs?

Would uprated shocks help at all?

    Cheers all

Im guessing its the rear that is rubbing as my 1.1 had the same problem on 15's, with a full load even before lowering. If you grind the lip off the rear arches it should be ok.

Or instead of grinding it another option is too remove the bump strip, fold the lip all the way across with pliers, then refit the bump strip - Thats what I did.. my flatarch is now lowered 80mm on the rear and it doesn't rub

    take the plastic trim off
cut the bottom of the arch
hammerite or similar to stop the bare edge corroding

    put the trim back on

    job done

no need to cut a flat arch, as above just bend the lip out the way.. 1 minute job

1 minute to bend 30 seconds to grind
plus i did that as i had 16x7j wheels so bending isnt enough

the main problem i see with bending is it pretty easy to crease the panel

as above you can fuck the panel if your not careful, grinding is better
