uprating brakes on a vts

  1. #1
    hi guys

have read a few posts on here saying that on a saxo it is only worth uprating the brake pads and oil for road use

is this still applicable if youre intending on tuning the engine? i would have thought that the discs/calipers might need uprating too...?

always a good idea to uprate brakes.

Set of 4 pots on bigbrakes4u with a sax-p discount for like 600 notes for 285mm 4 pots hi specs

If the car is for road use then gti-6 283mm brakes or 206gti etc 266mm brakes are more than adequate.

carbonne lorraine pads and standard discs, can't go wrong.

I agree with the 266mm setup, save on the weight spent from the otherwise big old gti-6 setup too.

I fancy a set of willwoods for mine, love the look, heard good reports about them as well, how do you go about getting replacement discs and pads for them though?

most aftermarket brake manufacturers list pads for the wilwoods.. certainly our carbone lorraine catalogue does

so would u guys say that just uprating the pads would be sufficient, seeing as im looking at getting extra power from the engine? or is it wise to get the lot?

depends what kinda uprating your on about mate. If its just light engine work upto mild cams, then youll probably find that the 266 calipers will be fine. If your going for big power with crazy cams or some form of boost you may want 4 pots

probs going to go to 160-170 bhp...

    Tbh..

Standard calipers will be ok at that sort of power..Just get some fancy pads and discs..

with the i personally would want to uprate the brake setup.

    opting for either gti-6

    or

    4 pots eg hi spec's

not 100% nessacary but there when you need them
