Painting the underneath with Hammerite

  1. #1
My cars going to be in a nice dry place for a day or 2 so i want to take the opurtunity to paint the underneath at the back (by the spare wheel cage) with hammerite to protect it from rust etc.

I think i saw someone a while back do it, but cant find the thread. So what do i need to do to prepare it before i paint?

I know hammerite can be painted straight onto rust to protect it. There isnt much rust there i just want to make sure it doesnt start.

    Any answers would be appreciated.

    Cheers

On my previous cars I have spray waxed the underside. This usually will protect fairly well, especially against salt in the winter. Although you should never wax over rust, this should be taken back as much as possible then primed and re-painted.
