Removing the powersteering.

I've been thinking about removing the powersteering pump ect, if i do is it likely to free up the revs abit? surely the powersteering pump will take up abit of power from the engine and therefore slow it down? or not let it run up as fast?

    thanks

cant answer about revs but is poss it is an electric pump but if you remove it you will need to change rack aswell for a non pas one

change the rack for a non pas setup

wont really give you any gains apart from a better better feel around track

Yes in theory there should be some gain by removing the PAS pump, as you're reducing the load on the engine, but I'd imagin it would be that small that you wouldn't notice it.

You don't need to change the rack for a non pas rack you can just remove the pump and the ram from your current rack.

If you did want to use a non pas rack you'd also need a non pas steering column as they're slightly longer.
Really it wouldn't be ideal to used a non pas rack from a base model Saxo though as they're a slower ratio than the pas rack.

I'm guessing a non-pas set up is a fair bit lighter too?

Which model non pas would be best?

Would a AX GTi/GT one be any good?
