im slightly optimistic about this as jackmans got a vts lump in a 205 with not much bother so i am curious as to what gearbox he has

Have no fear Jackman is here.

I believe its the XS box your on about?

I'm pretty sure it will fit as the XS was the same engine that i had before the 16v just with 10bhp more.

But i've got to be honest i'm not to sure on the gear ratios on it and what they are like.

I am currently running a gearbox from a quiksilver i think, but i was running the gearbox off my old 205 engine with AX GT internals in it and it fits no problem.

I'll try find the ratios now.

From a little bit of research i found one comment saying that the XS box has a final drive of 4.28, which would make it very similar to a 1.4 XSi gearbox which would be closer ratio than a VTS box.

Believe your thinking of the boxes from the 205 GTi's which will not fit.

I believe it is yes, as it comes off a TU engine.

25quid box? ul; b lucky if it lasts in any engine matey! it will no doubt fit with only minor problems but it might drop its arse if its old and wore out? my advice would be, try it, see if it fits/works and wether u prefer it etc, if so go buy a nicer one. itll save u time and money !

the box will fit if its an MA box. the only problem being the ratios and how strong it is. the newer the box the less problems usually. as tam has a c2 box in his ax and runs 250hp through it. not one fault as of yet.

if its a vts box use either a vts box,s1 rally(for performance) or any other than the vtr's( longer ratio etc)

    hope this helps

    No problem mate.

    Thats a bargain mate!

Never pick a S2 Rallye box up for that much and its almost the same Final Drive!

Good luck! let me know how you get on!

depends on the age. on early ones the bell housing was differnt and wont bolt to the engine, for £25 though its worth buying just for the f.d

That could of been why my AX GT box didn't fit then!

Sure the bell housing was different in that so i just had the internals put in my Rallye gearbox!
