approx £1000 all in from us.

If you plan to VTS it leave it as it is for now and start saving.
  5. #5
start saving and drive as little as poss lol i have had a look at cams for it aswell but not sure if there is a gain or not?
  6. #6
for the money you would spend on cams and mapping you may aswel go and get a vts mate
  7. #7
iv got them mapping done for 299 but have not got a clue on the cams really starting to think bout the conversion or to just go on the body mods but i want to keep subtle and discrete if i can?

plus with the vts lump its standard at around the 120bhp mark, add cams and some head work with a remap with the exhaust(manifold back) and a decent air filter and you could look around the 140-150bhp mark. maybe a little more.

the only prob i got is saving for the conversion lol
  10. #10
if your like me mate and cant save for poo lol then do what im doing i got 250-300 a month to spend on mods

    plans are

    bmc induction kit
    cam
    4-2-1 manifold
    decat
    full system
and remap after all parts are fitted

also a S1 box which is said to be a better ratio and faster off the mark

im unsure what parts will see bhp wise but ive been lookig at engine mods for ages and this seems to have alot of solid power

as ive said very new to saxos and just readin stickys and old threads

    what bhp is yours ??

also consider stripping the rear if thats a option??? makeing lighter always helps

also read that closed air induction kits work a treat as u dont get heat soak etc making for better gains prob wouldnt sound as loud but then its performance u want

and is is 421 manifolds that giv ur better acceliration or 4-1 ?? i cant rember

    hope this helps newbi myself

If your talking that sort of money I would say boost your VTR. It will get you much more power than a VTS swap would and its a lot easier to get more power out of a boosted engine later down the line when you have a bit more to spend.

aint you looking over 2500? to turbo your motor properly? low comp pistons n steel rods are over 900 alone + turbo, manifold, boost pipes, inter cooler ect

most important part of modding a car is knowing the consequences of the insurance premium! make sure you can afford the new premium before the new parts!

I got 103.2bhp @ the fly (estimated) with an open Green filter, semi-heatwrapped Raceland mani, and decat, although my engine management light was on, so somethings wrong somewhere (whether its losing me power or not I dunno).

So dont expect that much from the simple breathing mods. Next things up from there are a cam, headwork, bodies/carbs, or forced induction

Breather mods wont get you much extra performance just a better throttle response imo...if you want real power from the VTR youre looking at cams with TBs or forced induction.

not sure on the bhp its going on the rolling road to see what the decat/straight through has done with the pannel filter and hose not really sure what ot be looking at it was 100 when i got according to the chap before and that just had a back box on it.

the cams look like the next option after the manifold but not sure what o be paying or which to get?

    cam - £194 - £239 (kam racing)

then a remap at around £450, then fitting, so about ~£800

so around £200 for the cam, i can get a remap for £250, is it a tough job to get it fitted?

cam, mapped, 4-2-1 manifold and straight through will give say +25bhp although im not familiar with vtr's so dont quote me on that.

well thats better than what it started with its also got new spark plugs but not sure of they will actually do anything, im also looking at a little thing that reduces the throttle response but need to look in to that one aswell.

iv found that device that sharpens up the throttle response its £90 it redeuces the response time for pedal to go basically and is ment to make the drive smoother thorugh out the gears
