I think the calipers pads use 100% of their surface against the existing disc already, so putting bigger discs on would only increase the unsprung weight and do nothing to the braking as your not gaining any surface area that can apply friction. So basically you have a big disc but the pad HAS to be the same size if you dont change the caliper.
Fit some decent pads, theres a sticky at the top of this section of the forum that tells you what you need to know.
Try a set of braided hoses and some decent pads/discs, then if your still not happy get some bigger calipers. But generally the pads and discs alone can really help out the breaking.
