what do i need for straight vtr engine swap?

   If its the same model engine, then no.
   
   But a service is a good idea.

   my car is a y reg vtr and the engine is from a 02 reg vtr. do i not even have to change the ecu? thanks

   Yeah, you will, your ECU is single plug, the new one will be triple plug. So you'll need to change the wiring too. I think.

   correct. change the complete loom when switching over and get it serviced. worth doing for sure.

   Dash will be wrong as well and rad fan and such all work differently. To get it all working properly you will want the full 3 plug car and just swap everything. Much easier for you just to get the same model engine as you have now.

   i have the whole 02 car aswell. so am i right in saying its just the engine loom, ecu and engine that needs to be swapped. is it easier just changing the gearbox as thats the problem? thanks for posts!
