Hey guys got under the saxo yesterday to investigate a knocking sound and found the inner cv boot had small hole/s in it and had lost a little grease...how much these cost roughly as i cant really get doing it myself...dont fancy spliting the ball joints and messing the car up haha!...shame its not an outer...track rod ends im guessing is the knock...will sort that later...first thing is the cv though...price with labour...and price for just the kit from whereever u can get them from and maybe where if online
cost to replace inner cv joint??

#2As far as I know you can't get just the cv joint, it's a whole new driveshaft. You're looking at around about the £80 mark for a new driveshaft, so add on however much your local garage charges for labour

The knocking noise is caused by moisture getting inside the joint where the cv gaitor has split, so you just need to replace the driveshaft to get rid of the knocking. -
#3you can get a kit but its expensive its cheaper to replace drive shaft
-
#4I got this done for £85 inc labour, although my dad knew the bloke so got it a little cheeper
-
#5replace the whole thing...just cause the cv gaitor has a tiny whole in it?Quote:I got this done for £85 inc labour, although my dad knew the bloke so got it a little cheeper
its still packed pretty decently, just tiny holes to the gaitor?
although i do have the clunk that needs sorting out...
gonna get back under it inabit (its just that little too much cold at the moment out) -
#6yep the inner cv gaitor has a small hole in it...tiny bits of grease flicked out, so sure if the CV is packed out enough it wont have caused damage just needs a new gaitor fitted?! lol...going to go get a price from the local garage
-
#7went to shitreon dealer and they wanted £34 for the cv "kit" and £144.50 plus VAT to fit the thing!Quote:yep the inner cv gaitor has a small hole in it...tiny bits of grease flicked out, so sure if the CV is packed out enough it wont have caused damage just needs a new gaitor fitted?! lol...going to go get a price from the local garage

so went to a local parts place i use picked up the kit for £10.50 and just gotta find time and fast to replace it...i have no haynes manual either...anyone fancy scanning me the pages???!!!
or any advice/help here...i'm VERY new to saxo's  -
#8cba to read everything.
get new drive shaft always best bet, £40 i pick them up for then takes me roughly 40mins to fit them and be driving again. -
#9as above you will need a new shaft mate
-
#10Mine came off, Bought a jubilee clip and some grease and sorted it out myself. Only took about 20mins.
Its been fine ever since.
edit:
Just seen you've bought a kit, does it not have instructions with it? -
#12what you mean instructions mate? its just a cv, grease and 2 jubilee clips...probably have got some sort of instructions i guess...lol...i dont understand why people are saying get a new driveshaft...its just a little hole in the gaitor, why buy a new shaft for that? :sQuote:Mine came off, Bought a jubilee clip and some grease and sorted it out myself.
