VTS turbo price and help

  1. #1
Hello everyone I live in the south of the great uk country, I have a mk2 furio which as we all know its a slowish engine.
Now i start uni next year and ima be ge gettin 3k a year to spend on stuff... as any serious moder knows ima obviouslly spend it on my baby ahah
Right now next thing im planning is to get a VTS engine fitted, I have also been looking through magazines and I phoned this company called prizm and they quoted me 4k (inc VAT) to get my car done... now as we all know thats a fucking loada cash.
Ive always wanted the lovelly Psssssht from the dump valve, but im not to worried about that, can anyone tell me if there is other conversions I can make which will give me the same sort of effect but using less cash, or any turbo conversion garages that would do it cheaper !!?

I am considering it, but man with the 3k ive spend on the car, 1k for a vts engine and 4k turbo.... thats 8k all together, and im doing this without telling the insurance, so thats 8k + all the other mods like lower, rims, exaust, k&n, ice and fuck knows what else is coming in next... so guys please help, i cannot afford to tell the insurance, ive got 7 points and my insurance is already 1200 with pass plus.....

So heres my tale... just gimme your opinions

i'll give you my opinion- if you do anything without telling your insurance company (especially a turbo'd vts conversion), then you're a wanker. that would be really clever wouldn't it, to spend 8grand on your car only for something to happen- you hit someone, someone hits you etc- then you're left with a fucked car and a court case hanging over you for driving without insurance. straight to the top of the class for you buddy

you'll get bugger all help on here when you post saying things like that i'm afraid.

well its already 1200 a year mate, without modz, i need to tell em about the k&n ice and exaust and rims, infortunatly i cant use no one elses 5 years no claims.
and i want a faster car, and im not loosing the money i got on modz from my car...
telling them about modz would make the price fly up

im not asking for you guys to be my mother, im just asking you about opinions, had i needed a lesson I would of gone to the mother teresa web site..
im a uni student man, with cunt parents who the only thing they ever payed towards my car was to get the provisional...

Half of the modders i know have parents who pay them fucking loads from lessons, lend them the 5 years no claims everythin unfortunatly i cant, im a good driver
( i know thats no excuse everyone thinks they are)u dont see me goin fast around towns or nothing mate..
Seriouslly id appreciate the help, if youre gonna front me man .... dont bother

you cant lend anyones 5 years no claims, if your on the insurance and driving the car you would have to be a named driver, which in that case would probs cost you more than the 1200 your paying now as it would work out as you as main driver and parent as other, you cant have it any other way (ie your parent main driver and you names but down as not driving much when your driving it all the time, as your insurance is void if you do this FACT)

Insuance and mods=no no, if you have a small prang and the insurance look at the car, if you have even something like different alloys or an exhaust they can say the car isnt as insured and void it, you then have to deal with no insurance which the police would be interested in, then when you do declare it they hold it against you because you were dishonest the first time, its really not worth it.

as far as mods go, speak to carworx for turbo, about 2.5k on any engine. But if you have a furio you wont really be able to handle the extra power a turbo gives as you sound like you havnt been driving enough to understand even the basics let alone an extra 30bhp slapped in at low revs those 7 points will soon be 12 and its bye bye licence, im not being harsh or telling you a mammys story but realistic and honest, if you want it, pay for it and I mean everything, insurance, brakes, turbo etc etc.

being young is always a barstool, but once you have your no claims and 0 points its worth it.

my my my, where do these people get their ideas from?!

very stupid idea. wait til u grow up a little to get a "fast" car, then u possibly might be able to afford the insurance aswell

i take it your not studying law at university then...?

ill tell u this for nothing...if u crashed into me (i dont care that ur a "good" driver, shit happens all the time whether u can help it or not) and i found out you werent insured, or your insurance was void - then id b forced to beat u to death with ur own arms

and before any1 jumps down my throat for being a bit cruel...i dont particularly care as this is a very stupid thing to do and has no excuse. if u dont have the money to pay insurance...get the bus and dont fuck it up for the rest of us

ye i agree with joe - dont you have a job to pay for the insurance?
im in uni too but i also work in the evenings to pay for my car so perhaps if you do that then you will have money for insurance, my parents dont pay for nothing either - its all apart of growing up and sacraficing some things mate

    How old are you Ricardo.
With 7 points, I take it you are over 19/20??

I'm 19 and have just got myself a VTR turbo converted and insurance is a fair amount, on my own name.
Going from a 1.4 to a VTR turbo has been a big step for me, as the power increase was phenominal.

    Ask yourself:
Am I ready for such a power increase?
Can I afford to do the conversion (ie: properly = uprate brakes etc)
Can I afford to run the car once the conversion is done?

these things take alot of planning. If your thinking about driving un-insured (which, lets face it.. that practically what you would be doing) then it sounds to me as if you're no-where near ready for a turbo converted VTS.

Think carefully before doing these kind of things.
Save your time and money until you are well and truly ready to do this. By which time you may well want an Evo for example.

The above guys are only advising, just the same as me.
Dont go biting their heads off, as they are looking out for your well being at the end of the day.
Police, court, fines, prison.. Not very nice I think you'll agree?
