de-catting a mk2 vtr?

  1. #1
iv just bought an ashley exhaust system and i wana buy a 4-2-1 manifold which obviously will then de-cat it.

so wen it comes to mot time would i have to change the manifold back or would i be able to use the mk1 under the car cat?

    any help appreciated

You will be able to use a mk1 cat under the car for MOT time.

It's a bit more pricey, but kam-racing are selling 4-2-1's with a built in sport cat.

yeah i was looking at the sports cats but ive been told the power gains arent that great, especially for the price. anyone have any more opinions on the sports cats?

Ive had a sports cat and now a de-cat. For the money i would de-cat and fit a cat for MOT time tbh.

ok well thnx for ya help guys. is the supersprint the only 4-2-1 manifold that will go straight on a mk2 vtr without anything needing relocating or is their any others?

the piper and janspeed fit without changing the filter. Only the Raceland needs any modifications

The supersprint is the only 4-2-1, unless you want to mess on with oil filter relocation for the raceland to fit. GMC do a 4-1 manifold aswell which will de-cat and fit straight on. You will see similar gains with either really.

you don't need to relocate, just fit a mk 1 oil filter and thread and plug a hole in the block. You only need to do this for the Raceland

the 4-2-1 supplied by Janspeed, supersprint and piper all fit fine.

Are you sure about tht Kam?
I have 2000+ Quiksilver with a janspeed 4-2-1 and i had to fit the early style oil filter because the oil filter was jus too close for my liking!
